Smithville Elementary would like to recognize our Students of the Month for December. These students were selected for their outstanding character, academics, and other traits that make them an all-around excellent student. Selected as Students of the Month for December are:

Chamber Presents Community Improvement Award to Headlines Salon

The Chamber presented a well-deserved Community Improvement Award to Headlines Salon, 110 East Market Street, Smithville for their beautiful interior and exterior improvements. Exterior improvements include a new handicap-accessible entry system complete with new door, railing, and wheelchair ramp, new siding, paint & window. Interior improvements include new flooring and paint. Headlines owner, J.J. Poss, and stylist, Dana West, operate the salon that offers haircuts, color, waxing, perms, and the Glo-Minerals Make-up line. In 2018, Headlines celebrated 29 years as a business, and J.J. would like to express her heart-felt gratitude and deepest appreciation to her many customers who have made this possible. Lady Tigers Win at Cannon County, Tigers Fall to Lions (VIEW VIDEO CLIPS HERE)

The DCHS Lady Tigers earned a road win at Woodbury Tuesday night against Cannon County 58 to 44 while the Tigers lost 48 to 33.

With the victory, the Lady Tigers improve to 7-2 on the season and 4-0 in district play. The Tigers drop to 1-8 overall and 0-4 in the district.

The Lady Tigers led 22 to 6 after the 1st period, 32 to 22 at halftime, 49 to 32 after the 3rd period  before going on to win 58 to 44.

Kadee Ferrell led the team in scoring with 24. Mya Ruch 15. Emme Colwell 6, Mallori Hart 2 and Kenzie France with 1.

The Tigers trailed 9 to 4 after the 1st period, 26 to 10 at halftime, and 38 to 24 after the 3rd period before falling to the Lions 48 to 33.

Nathan Atkins scored 11. Dallas Cook 8. Hayden Thomas 6. Dakota White 3 and Colter Norris with 2.

DeKalb County will host Warren County on Friday, December 14 starting at 6 p.m. and Jackson County on Saturday, December 15 also starting at 6 p.m. WJLE will have LIVE coverage.
