The DCHS Tigers got their first road win of the season and snapped a three game losing skid in the process with a 28-6 victory over Grundy County Friday night.
The Tigers improve to 2-3 overall midway through the season and will travel to Cannon County next Friday night, September 21 to take on the Lions. Grundy County drops to 1-4. The Lions have lost three straight against Sequatchie County 42 to 13, Moore County 20 to 19, and at Upperman 49-0.
The Tigers primarily passed their way to the win while the defense also stood tall.
Quarterback Axel Aldino threw for three touchdowns in the game, the first one coming on the opening Tiger drive with 10:21 left in the 1st period as Aldino found Grayson Redmon on a 54 yard touchdown play. Andrew Fuson booted the extra point and the Tigers led 7-0.

Redmon got his second touchdown catch of the night with 5:21 left in the 2nd period. The play from Aldino to Redmon covered 53 yards for the score. Fuson’s extra point extended the Tiger lead to 21-0.
A Grundy County interception and return to the Tiger 11 yard line late in the second period set up the only scoring drive for the Yellow Jackets in the game. Gavin Tate scored on a 5 yard touchdown run with 47 seconds left in the half. The PAT attempt by Jaden Nance was no good and Grundy County trailed 21-6 at halftime.
The only score in the second half came on a 39 yard touchdown run by Tre Ladet with 4:30 left in the 3rd period. Fuson booted the extra point and the Tigers went on to win 28-6.

A fire at Foutch Industries on East Broad Street today (Friday) destroyed an entire chain-on-edge coating production line for brake rotors causing an estimated one million dollars in damage.
The fire started in an enclosed room of the manufacturing facility where the production line was housed though no one was working in that room at the time. How the fire actually started in there has not been determined.
Approximately 100 employees working in other parts of the building were evacuated during the fire. No one was injured.
The Smithville Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to the scene with mutual aid backup support from members of the DeKalb County Volunteer Fire Department and they contained the blaze to the room where the fire started with no damage to the rest of the manufacturing facility but smoke spread throughout the building.
The Smithville Police Department and DeKalb EMS were also on the scene.

Funds are raised from pledges and donations.
“The kids ask for pledges or people can donate. The goal for each kid is to raise $100. Every kid gets something (incentives) if they bring in something (donations). Their rewards could be like an extra recess, popcorn, pizza party, ice cream, etc.,” said Tobitt.
The obstacle course was a new addition to the fun run this year
