Although their terms of office don’t officially begin until Saturday, September 1, all the newly elected officials of county and district offices will be sworn in on Tuesday, August 28 at 6:00 p.m. at the county complex auditorium.

Officials will take their oath of office from Judge Bratten Cook, II.  The oath may be delivered to the entire group as a whole.

Those scheduled to be sworn in are County Mayor Tim Stribling, Circuit Court Clerk Susan Martin, Road Supervisor Danny Hale, Sheriff Patrick Ray, County Clerk James L. (Jimmy) Poss, Trustee Sean Driver, and Register of Deeds Jeff McMillen.

County commissioners to be sworn in are Dennis Slager and Julie Williams Young from the 1^st district, Myron Rhody and Sabrina Farler from the 2^nd district, Jenny Trapp and Bobby Johnson from the 3^rd district, Janice Fish-Stewart and Scott Little from the 4^th district, Jerry Adcock and Anita Puckett from the 5^th district, Jeff Barnes and Matt Adcock from the 6^th district, and Beth Pafford and Bruce Malone from the 7^th district.

Board of Education members to take the oath are Danny Parkerson from the 1^st district, Alan Hayes from the 2^nd district, Jim Beshearse from the 3^rd district, Kate Miller from the 4^th district, and Shaun Tubbs from the 7^th district.

Terms of each office are for four years.

Certified Nurse Aides (CNA) provide essential care in healthcare settings by assisting patients with activities of daily living. Six area residents were recently recognized as CNA’s of the Year at NHC Smithville. Maria Amaya, Pam Dawson, Cassie Dyer, Brooke Goodson, Crystal Lawson, and Opal Parker visited the Embassy Suites Hotel and Convention Center in Murfreesboro, TN, and were honored with a day of fun and a banquet. They celebrated with other honored CNA’s from NHC HealthCare Centers throughout Middle and Eastern Tennessee.

The honorees were evaluated on knowledge and performance of their duties, among other key factors. Smithville resident, Brooke Goodson, was further recognized as NHC Smithville’s overall CNA of the Year and nominee for CNA of the Year for all NHC centers in the Central Region. NHC Smithville Director of Nursing, Paulette Nichols, said, “Each of these CNA’s are hard-working, professional, compassionate, caring, honest, understanding, and highly skilled. They are a tremendous asset to NHC Smithville and we are truly fortunate to have them as valued partners.”
