18-year-old Kenlee Renae Taylor is the 2023 DeKalb County Fairest of the Fair.

Taylor, daughter of Ken and Cindy Taylor of Smithville won the crown Monday evening during the annual pageant held on opening night of the DeKalb County Fair in Alexandria. There were six contestants. Taylor was also named Most Photogenic.

Kenlee succeeds the retiring Fairest of the Fair, Addison Jean Puckett, the 19-year-old daughter of Jimmy and Anita Puckett of Smithville.

First runner-up in the Fairest of the Fair event was Allyson Roxanne Fuller, the 17-year-old daughter of Anthony and Amanda Fuller of Smithville.

Second runner-up was Alexis Grace Atnip, 20-year-old daughter of Veronica and Gary Johnson of Smithville.

The title of Miss Congeniality went to18 year old Elizabeth Carlene Gaines, daughter of Beverly Anderson of Smithville.

Other contestants were 19-year-old Mackenzie Leigh Sprague, daughter of Wanda Sprague and Wendell Bradford of Smithville and 18-year-old Caitlin Elisabeth Washer, daughter of Charlise Washer and John and Karey Washer of Smithville.

Meanwhile 39-year-old Amanda Joy Ford of Smithville was crowned the 2023 Miss Fair Queen of the DeKalb County Fair for contestants ages 21-54.

The 2023 Junior Fair Princess of the DeKalb County Fair is Ansley Faith Cantrell

The 16-year-old daughter of Tony and Amee Cantrell of Smithville was among fifteen young ladies ages 13-16 who competed for the crown Monday night at the DeKalb County Fair.

She succeeds the retiring Junior Fair Princess, Allyson Roxanne Fuller, the 17-year-old daughter of Anthony and Amanda Fuller of Smithville.

The first runner-up was Ellie Caroline Ray, 13-year-old daughter of Shayne and Kandi Ray of Alexandria.

Second runner-up was Karah Jo Ford of Smithville, 13-year-old daughter of Hector O’Roscoe and Amanda Ford.

Deanna Marie Agee was named Most Photogenic. She is the 15-year-old daughter of David and Dama Agee of Smithville. Agee was also in the top ten.

The title of Miss Congeniality went to McKenna Reece Miller of Dowelltown, 15-year-old daughter of Charles and Christen Cox and David and Casey Miller. She was also in the top ten.

Other contestants in the top ten were 15 year old Cali Beth Agee, daughter of Kevin and Jennifer Agee of Smithville; 14 year old Kaylyn Isabelle Prichard, daughter of Andy and Chrissy Prichard of Liberty; 13 year old Brileigh Nicole Bullard, daughter of Nikki and Jimmy Martin and Riley and Kayla Bullard of Smithville; 15 year old Averie Nicole McMinn, daughter of Nathan McMinn and Amanda and Jake Franklin of Smithville; and 14 year old Kenadee Rose Prichard, daughter of Luke and Jodee Prichard of Alexandria.

 

Remaining contestants were 16-year-old Keara McKinsey Milligan, daughter of Josh and Cyndi Milligan of Smithville; 13-year-old Savannah Faith Stibil, daughter of John and Glenda Stibil of Smithville; 16-year-old Jasmen Chapman, daughter of Debbie Miller and Jamie Chapman of Smithville; 14-year-old Ellabeth Jane Ferrell, daughter of Steven and Amy Ferrell of Smithville; and 13-year-old Brianna Madison Washer, daughter of Charlise Washer and John and Karey Washer of Smithville.




Three Prisoners Charged with Assaulting Fellow Inmate

Three prisoners at the DeKalb County Jail have been charged with assaulting a fellow inmate.

47-year-old Gregory Michael Patton, Sr. of Oak Place Drive, Smithville, 37-year-old Eric Wayne Tramel of Circle Drive, Dowelltown, and 55-year-old Ricky Lynn Murphy of Ferrell Road, Smithville are each charged with assault. Bond for each is $4,000 and they will make a court appearance on the charge July 13.

Sheriff Patrick Ray said that on June 25 while incarcerated at the jail, Murphy, Tramel, and Patton assaulted a fellow inmate by punching and kicking him about his face and body causing injury, The victim’s bottom lip bled from the assault, and he complained of a possible rib injury. A mobile Xray was performed to determine if the victim had suffered more serious injuries.
