More Thursday Night Football!

More Thursday night football!

Fans of both the DCHS Tigers and the DeKalb Saints will have plenty of reason to cheer tonight (Thursday, September 26) as both teams will hit the field, possibly in the rain, to put their undefeated records on the line. The Saints will be meeting Avery Trace, also undefeated, for a conference championship. That game will kick-off at 6:30 p.m. to be played at Cookeville High School.

Meanwhile here at home, the DCHS Tigers (5-0) will host the Stone Memorial Panthers (3-2). Kick-off will be at 7 p.m. and WJLE will have LIVE coverage.

In recent years, games between the Tigers and Panthers have been tight as Tiger Coach Steve Trapp knows all too well.

“Its always been a tight ballgame with them. I think we have had very complimentary styles, so we understand each other. We just really have to get out there, be prepared, and be ready to get a lot of different looks and things like trick plays, going for two, all that kind of stuff. We really have to be focused in and ready to get after it,” said Coach Trapp.

Last week, the Tigers kept their perfect record intact with a 35 to 21 win at Gordonsville.

“We talk to them (players) that the mindset we’ve got to have is never get too high or never get too low. Its always about your next opportunity and that’s the next play. If that one (play) went really good or really bad you have to move on and they have done a great job with that by responding all year. There has been two or three games where we have allowed a team to score right off the jump but fortunately for us our offense has been able to come right back. Deferring to the second half really paid dividends for us last week. That touchdown before halftime was huge and then we came back out and got another one and that was the difference in the ballgame with those two scores. Again our guys did what we asked them to do. I think they played physical and fast and I am super proud of them,” said Coach Trapp.

The Tigers have beaten Warren County 28-14, Smith County 35-6, Livingston Academy 42-8, Watertown 45-27, and Gordonsville 35-21.

Stone Memorial has defeated Sweetwater 42-7, Cumberland County 50-14, and Meigs County 35-16. Panther losses have been to Cookeville 35-12 and to White County 28-12.

Class 4A Region 4 Records:
Upperman: 5-0 (3-0)
DeKalb County: 5-0 (1-0)
Macon County: 4-1 (1-1)
Stone Memorial: 3-2 (1-1)
White County: 3-2 (1-1)
Cumberland County: 2-3 (0-2)
Livingston Academy: 3-2 (0-2)

WJLE’s Pre-Game shows begin with the Fearless Forecasters at 4:30 p.m. followed by Murphy’s Matchups at 6:00 p.m., a look at Tennessee High School Football from Murphy Fair with commentary on games and coaches’ interviews.

“Tiger Talk” airs at 6:30 p.m. with the Voice of the Tigers John Pryor interviewing Coach Steve Trapp and Tiger football players Ty Webb, Tucker Webb, and Jarett Hamilton.

Coach to Coach will air in its regular time slot Friday at 5 p.m. with an encore show Saturday morning at 9 a.m.

Kick-off is at 7:00 p.m. with play-by-play coverage on WJLE from the Voice of the Tigers John Pryor and Luke Willoughby. Listen LIVE on WJLE AM 1480/FM 101.7 and LIVE Streaming at www.wjle.com.
