Surveillance cameras at the DeKalb County Landfill helped nab a man for stealing fuel and batteries there.

39 year old Brandon Lyle Bohannon of Felts Road, Sparta is charged with theft of property. His bond is $5,000 and his court date is August 16.

Sheriff Patrick Ray said that from February 15 through May 9 Bohannon stole six vehicle batteries, gas, and 45 gallon buckets of hydraulic fluid from the DeKalb County Landfill on Felts Road. The total value of the property stolen is $3,705.

Bohannon was identified as the suspect after his image was caught on surveillance cameras set up at the landfill by a sheriff’s department detective.

Meanwhile, 44 year old Peggy Rochelle Bain of Morgan Drive, Smithville is charged with being a fugitive from justice. She is under a $4,500 bond and her court date is August 9.

Sheriff Ray said that on Friday, July 27 a deputy initiated a traffic stop on a black Chevrolet Cobalt at McDonalds for having a passenger side brake light out. The officer spoke with the driver, Bain and after requesting a check through the National Crime Information Center, learned that Bain had an active warrant against her in Catoosa, Georgia. Authorities there plan to extradite her.
