Local attorneys Brandon Cox and Tecia Puckett Pryor will meet in the August 4th DeKalb County General Election to determine who succeeds retiring General Sessions Court Judge Bratten Cook, II.
Both Cox and Pryor won their respective party primaries on Tuesday. Cox captured the GOP nomination defeating Mingy Ball 1,521 to 784 while Pryor claimed the Democratic nomination with a 723 to 278 victory over Margie Rigsby Miller.
Cox carried all twelve precincts in the GOP primary and had a majority of the early votes/absentees.
In the Democratic Primary, Pryor carried every precinct except Blue Springs and Keltonburg and she had a majority of the early votes/absentees.
The winner in August will take over from Judge Cook on September 1, who will be completing 24 years on the bench as DeKalb County’s General Sessions and Juvenile Court Judge.
The term of office is eight years.
