The incredibly beautiful Christmas on the Square “Live Window” displays on Saturday, December 4 made it very difficult for this years’ judges to decide on the winners. “The downtown window displays are something to see!” says Chamber Director Suzanne Williams. “Our local business owners really show off their creativity and talents at this special event.” Some of this year’s themes included The Pink Flamingo Christmas at Button Willow, Letters to Santa at Cantrell’s Clothing, DeKalb Florist’s Frozen complete with an adorable Elsa, A Christmas Story at The Male Room Bro-tique, The North Pole with Santa and Mrs. Clause at Treats by Tiff, the magic of Frosty the Snowman and friend at The Vintage Owl, Magnolia Roots’ Lifesize Nutcracker with the dreaming little girl, Willow Boutique’s Happy Hippy Christmas, and The Purple Door’s adorable Twas the Night Before Christmas scene.

First Place went to Attorney Keith Blair and Glenda Davis office with their detailed depiction of National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation with Clark Griswold and Cousin Eddie. Passersby could even get a picture with Cousin Eddie dressed in his famous white housecoat and faux fur hat, see the dry turkey, and watch Clark and Eddie drinking eggnog by the Christmas tree. Mayor Josh Miller and his wife, Melissa, personally donated $250 for the 1st Place winner to give to the charity of their choice. This year’s donation will go to Lighthouse Christian Camp.

Second Place went to Bates Apparel who had Mrs. Claus and lots of little elves inviting children to write out their personal wish list to Santa. They had a table set up with “Dear Santa” stationery and a nearby special Santa mailbox.

Third Place went to Savvy Scrubs who won with the help of Charlie Brown characters including Lucy offering 5-cent advice from her psychiatric booth.

The Chamber Choice Award went to RealSource for their Home Alone theme. The attention to detail in this 2-window scene included a surprised Kevin, the 2 burglars with bumps, bruises, and feather-covered hat, and many of the makeshift booby traps and props that are seen in this Christmas favorite.
