The DeKalb County Budget Committee will be meeting Tuesday and Wednesday night, June 9 & 10 at 6 p.m. each night at the courthouse to continue making preparations for the 2020-21 fiscal year budget.
The county commission met briefly in special session by conference call Monday night to confirm the recent appointments of fourth district commissioner Dr. Scott Little to the budget committee and sixth district member Jeff Barnes as Chairman of the committee.
County Mayor Tim Stribling announced the appointments at the last county commission meeting two weeks ago but a vote was not taken to make it official.
Dr. Little will join Barnes and fifth district commissioners Jerry Adcock and Anita Puckett and second district commissioner Sabrina Farler on the budget committee.
The vote to confirm Dr. Little’s appointment to the committee was 9-3 in favor. The three no votes were first district commissioner Dennis Slager, third district commissioner Bobby Johnson, and seventh district commissioner Bruce Malone.
Those voting in favor of Dr. Little were first district commissioner Julie Young, second district commissioner Sabrina Farler, third district commissioner Jenny Trapp, fourth district commissioners Janice Fish Stewart and Dr. Scott Little, fifth district commissioners Jerry Adcock and Anita Puckett, sixth district commissioner Jeff Barnes, and seventh district commissioner Beth Pafford.
Two commissioners were not present on the conference call, second district commissioner Myron Rhody and sixth district commissioner Matt Adcock.
The vote to confirm Barnes as chairman was 11-1. Bruce Malone was the only no vote.
