A man was caught last week trying to hide methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
42-year-old Nicholas Brad Corley of Lebanon is charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver, possession of drug paraphernalia, and tampering with evidence. He is under a $13,500 bond and his court date is March 2.
Sheriff Patrick Ray said that on February 15 a deputy was dispatched to Vanatta Subdivision Road in Alexandria due to an unwanted guest. Upon arrival he found Corley behind the garage along with a Bic lighter on the ground near Corley. The officer found in the downspout of the building a small baggie of a white crystal-like substance believed to be meth which weighed 5.14 grams. Corley was also in possession of a glass pipe containing a white residue.
38-year-old Brandon Dewayne Tucker of Antioch Road, Smithville is charged with driving on a revoked license. His bond is $2,000 and he will be in court March 1.
Sheriff Ray said that on February 16 a deputy spotted a white Subaru Forester which bore a license plate registered to a white Ford F-150. He pulled over the vehicle and spoke with the driver, Tucker. A background computer check revealed that Tucker’s license was revoked for failure to comply with the financial responsibility law. He had previously been cited twice for the same offense on January 21 and February 12.
30-year-old Maria Guzman Cabrera of McMinnville is charged with driving under the influence. She was further cited for failure to maintain lane of travel, violation of the light law, no insurance, and no driver license. Her bond is $1,500 and she will be in court March 9.
Sheriff Ray said that on February 19 a deputy was called to check on a complaint of a suspicious person knocking on the door of a home on Banks Pisgah Road but before he could arrive, the officer was informed that the person responsible had driven away in a silver Ford Focus. The deputy then spotted the suspected vehicle, which had a headlight out, crossing the double yellow line of the highway several times. He pulled over the car and spoke with the driver, Cabrera. She had a strong odor of alcohol on her and was unsteady on her feet. Her eyes were also glossy. Cabrera admitted to having consumed three beers. Several open containers of alcohol were in the car including a half full bottle of Michelob Ultra on the front seat. She submitted to field sobriety tasks but was unable to complete them.
55-year-old Lisa Taylor Chancey of Sparta Highway, Smithville is charged with domestic assault. Her bond is $3,500 and she will make a court appearance March 2.
Sheriff Ray said that on February 21 a deputy was called to Chancey’s home due to a report of a domestic assault and spoke with Chancey and her husband who reported that a verbal argument between them led to a physical altercation resulting in Chancey scratching her husband on the right side of the neck area leaving visible marks. She was determined to have been the primary aggressor.
