Quick response by the DeKalb County Volunteer Fire Department Sunday saved the home of Ashley Adcock on Belk Road.

No one was home at the time but a passerby spotted smoke coming from the eaves of the house and called 911.

County Fire Chief Donny Green said the fire started in a bedroom, apparently from an electrical problem, and spread up the wall into the attic. Firefighters extinguished the blaze before it could spread further.

The Belk, Keltonburg, Short Mountain Highway, Midway and Main Stations responded along with mutal aid backup support from the North Warren Fire Department in Warren County. DeKalb EMS and the Sheriff’s Department were also on the scene.
