The DCHS basketball teams completed the 2023-24 regular season at Warren County Saturday but lost both games as they now gear up for the district tournament this week. Details of the tournament to be announced.
The Tigers lost to the Pioneers 62 to 46 while the Lady Tigers were defeated by Warren County 61 to 58.
In the earlier meetings on December 8, the Tigers beat Warren County 61 to 53 while the Lady Tigers won 70 to 59.
The Tigers completed the season at 10-18 overall and 1-9 in the district. The Lady Tigers finish at 9-19 overall and 0-10 in district play.
In the girls game Saturday afternoon, both teams played to a 14 all tie by the end of the 1st period. Warren County led 32 to 31 by halftime and extended their lead to 47 to 42 by the end of the 3rd period before holding off the Lady Tigers in the 4th period enroute to a 61 to 58 win over DeKalb County.
For the Lady Tigers, Ella VanVranken scored 22, Chloe VanVranken and Tess Barton each with 10, Allie Melton 7, Avery Agee 5, and Cam Branin and Brooke Fuson each with 2.
The Tigers played without the services of Senior Conner Close, who was sidelined with an injury. DeKalb County trailed 19 to 10 after the 1st period and 31 to 21 by halftime. Warren County led 46 to 30 after the 3rd period and went on to defeat the Tigers 62 to 46.
Seth Fuson led the Tigers in scoring with 15 followed by Ian Colwell with 12, Dallas Kirby 8, Jordan Parker 7, and Alex Antoniak and Wyatt Carter each with 2.
