DCHS Golfers Earn High Honors at District Tournament

The DeKalb County High School Golf Team competed in the 6AAA District Tournament on Monday, September 10 at the Golden Eagle Golf Club in Cookeville.

In girls competition, Anna Chew came in 2nd place with a 3 over par score of 73. Makenzie Morton of White County came in 1st with a score of 72. Anna, a Junior, was selected to the 1st Team All-District Team.

In the boys competition, Isaac Walker fired a 4 over par 74. He finished 3rd in the District Tournament. Jared Funderburk of Cookeville  High School won with a 69. Isaac was named Player of the Year in the District, sharing that honor in a three way tie with Funderburk and Hogan Herring of Cumberland County High School.

Walker, a Senior, has signed to play golf and attend college at Cumberland University in Lebanon.

Both Anna and Isaac qualified for the Region3AAA Tournament as individuals at the Cleveland Country Club on Monday, September 17.

The DeKalb County Boys Team finished 8th out of 9 teams with a score of 384. In addition to Walker’s 74, Jadyn Young shot 89, Ethan Jenkins a 109, Chance Mabe a 112, and Justin Washer a 121.

Cookeville won the Boys Tournament with a 4-man score of 294. The White County girls won the tournament with a 2-lady score of 164.
