DCHS Tigers Fall to Watertown in Region Baseball Tournament Championship Game

The Watertown Purple Tigers shutout the DeKalb County Tigers 1 to 0 Wednesday night to claim the Championship of the Region 4AA baseball tournament in Watertown.

As the runner-up, DeKalb County (16-12-1) will travel to Signal Mountain (25-8) Friday evening for a sub-state game. The winner will advance to the state tournament. Signal Mountain defeated Hixson 7 to 3 on Wednesday.

Watertown’s Kendal Bayse threw a four hit shutdown against DeKalb County. He struck out seven.
Avery South went the distance for DeKalb County giving up one run. He struck out two.

Grayson Hendrix, Patrick Cantrell, and Kolter Kilgore each singled and Aiden Curtis had a double.

Wednesday night’s game was the fourth meeting between DeKalb County and Watertown this season.

The Tigers, the regular season District Champs, won both games during the regular season including a 7 to 6 victory at home on April 12 and a 2 to 1 win at Watertown on April 13. DC lost to the Purple Tigers 8 to 3 in the District Tournament Championship game at home on May 12.

DeKalb County is 16-12-1 while Watertown is 26-5

The Tigers’ next opponent, the Signal Mountain Eagles are 25-8
