DeKalb Sales Tax Collections Grew in May

DeKalb County’s share of local option sales tax collections for May 2022 were up by more than $6,500 compared to the same month in 2021 according to the Tennessee Department of Revenue while for the county and the four cities therein, combined collections were up by over $33,000.

DeKalb County brought in $154,376 in May 2022 compared to $147,869 for May 2021.

Two of the four cities within DeKalb County took in less local option sales tax revenue in May compared to 2021. Smithville and Liberty were the exceptions.

The comparisons between the two months for each municipality are as follows:

Smithville: $374,614 (May 2022), $348,222 (May 2021)

Alexandria: $24,222 (May 2022), $28,403 (May 2021)

Dowelltown: $2,526 (May 2022), $3,332 (May 2021)

Liberty: $15,605 (May 2022), 10,489 (May 2021)

NET COLLECTIONS (LOCAL OPTION SALES TAX): $571,345 (May 2022), $538,318 (May 2021)
