The DMS Girls Cross Country team finished in 2nd place at the Macon Bank and Trust Invitational on Saturday, August 21st.
Out of a field of 8 teams the girls earned a 2nd place overall team finish, behind competitive Station Camp Middle.
Over the hilly 2 mile course, the DeKalb girls had 3 of their 7 varsity runners earn medals for top 10 finishes.

Chaylea Lundsford 14:38 8th overall
Emily Fry 15:11 9th overall
Sydney Polk 16:14 23rd
Kaylee Kent 18:55 46th
Gracie Brewington 21:53 54th
Candice Rico 22:09 55th
In the girls JV race Anaka Oakley earned an 11th place finish with a time of 18:44 and Bella Franz was 29th at 25:43.
The boys team, absent several varsity runners, had some solid early season performances. Ben Driver led his team with a 13th place finish and a time of 13:20. Followed by Carson Davis 44th 15:23, Hayden Merriman 49th 16:13 and Ethan Spears 55th 17:05. Due to the absences the boys team was unable to have enough runners to place with a team score.
