DeKalb County Volunteer Firefighter Bill Brown of the Liberty Station is the 2019 recipient of the Allen’s Allstars “Git R Done” Award.

Brown received the honor during Saturday night’s annual department awards dinner at the County Complex.

Chris Allen of Allen’s Allstars and DCFD Captain Jay Cantrell made the presentation.

The “Git R Done” Award goes to a county firefighter based on community service, special projects within the fire department other than fire calls, special events such as fundraisers, Halloween, and Christmas parties, and actions/accomplishments above and beyond normal to promote the success and image of the fire department.

“As for community service, Bill volunteers with Lighthouse Christian Camp and has traveled internationally on multiple mission trips. He also participated in the DeKalb Emergency Services Association’s Christmas Eve meal delivery program,” said Captain Cantrell.

“ Bill serves on the Liberty Station and is noted among his team for always showing dedication, commitment to learning, compassion, motivation to others, and selflessness in his service to others. He prioritizes training and call response and still does all these extra things that makes the department better prepared to serve and respond. Bill can often be seen approaching new members to make them feel welcomed and appreciated. Throughout the year he has volunteered his time and skills to assist the Equipment Office with various maintenance projects,” he continued.

“Bill demonstrates the model of a “Git R Done” firefighter. His commitment to sacrificing his personal time, both in the department and in the community, while leading with a positive attitude, clearly shows why Bill was chosen as the recipient of the Allen’s Allstars 2019 “Git R Done” Award,” said Allen.

The judges for this award were made up of members from the Spring 2019 Citizens’ Fire Academy who evaluated and scored the nominations.
