Five DeKalb County High School Athletes recently competed in their first track and field meet running for the Warren County Team.
Aaron Gottlied, Ella VanVranken, Cadee Griffith, Maleah Ruch, and Ally Beneke competed in Cookeville Tuesday night, March 22.
Sophomore runner Aaron Gottlied placed 5th out of 24 runners in the 1600 meters with a time of 5:16.52 and 2nd in the 800 meters with a time of 2:15.91.
Freshman runner Ella VanVranken had two second place finishes with a time of 5:33.83 in the 1600 meters and a time of 2:36.27 in the 800 meter race.
Freshman runner Cadee Griffith finished 5th out of 19 runners in the 800 meter race with a time of 2:51.49 and she had a 4th place finish in the 400 meter race with a time of 1:11.30.
Freshman runner Maleah Ruch finished the 400 meter race with a time of 1:22.77.
Ally Beneke finished first in the womens high jump leaping 5-02.00. She also had a 2nd place team finish in the 4×200 meter relay with a time of 1:58.62 and a 5th place finish in the 4×100 meter relay with a time of 1:00.61.
Athletes from Cookeville High School. White House High School, Goodpasture Christian School, Warren County High School, Watertown High School, Livingston Academy, Macon County High School, Donelson Christian Academy, and Upperman High School participated in the track and field event.
DeKalb County has a coop agreement with Warren County. A coop agreement allows athletes from smaller schools without teams and facilities in a sport to participate with a larger school.
