A fundraiser is set for Saturday, June 20 in support of a mural project as a community tribute to the DCHS Class of 2020.

The event will be held at Button Willow General Store and Coffee Shop on Main Street downtown Smithville from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.. Stop in and buy some goodies to help raise funds for the mural. You can also go to First Bank of Smithville any time and make a donation there.

Jessica Higgins and her graduating daughter Karleigh Atnip came up with the idea for the mural. Mary Ann Puckett, a former art teacher at DCHS, agreed to layout the design work (as seen in the photo), artist Jody Johnson has agreed to bring much of the artwork to life, and Judge Bratten Cook, II has donated the back of his building at 106 N 3rd St for the mural.

In addition to monetary donations, volunteers are needed to help paint names of all seniors on the mural. For more information contact Higgins at jesshiggins2014@gmail.com.
