The Smithville Fiddlers’ Jamboree & Crafts Festival is proud to announce the nomination and appointment of Grant James to the festival’s board of directors. James will serve as treasurer effective immediately following the resignation of former treasurer, and long-time board member, Kerry Davis.
“We have been honored to work with Kerry Davis on the Jamboree Board for many years, and would like to thank him for his valuable years of service to DeKalb County’s historic festival. It’s not an easy job, but Kerry always worked with a smile and we wish him the best as he steps down from his role on the board as treasurer. We consider him a member of our Jamboree family. Kerry is a top notch guy, a great friend, and has worked hard to help train his replacement before leaving us entirely,” said Sam Stout, President & Coordinator of the Jamboree, “With that said, we are pleased and excited to welcome Smithville native Grant James to assume the role as treasurer. He brings a fresh, young perspective to our board, and is already presenting new ideas and processes for 2022.”
When asked about his new role with the Jamboree, James replied, “I am extremely honored to be selected as the next treasurer for our Fiddlers’ Jamboree. From the days as a kid of being there for the first contestant on Friday morning to watching online when I lived all the way in the state of Texas, the Jamboree has, and will always, hold a special place in my heart. I’m also very appreciative of Kerry Davis’ hard work as treasurer in the past, and his willingness to help make this transition as smooth as possible going into next year.”
James has already assumed his new role as treasurer, and looks forward to the upcoming Smithville Fiddlers’ Jamboree coming July 1st & 2nd, 2022. For more information on this year’s festival, go to their facebook page, or visit www.smithvillejamboree.com.
