Incoming General Sessions Court Judge Brandon Cox Takes Oath of Office (View video here)

Six days before he officially takes over, Brandon Cox, DeKalb County’s new General Sessions and Juvenile Court Judge took his oath of office during a brief ceremony Friday afternoon in the courtroom where he will soon be holding court.

The man Judge Cox is succeeding, Judge Bratten H. Cook, II administered the oath. Joining Judge Cox for the occasion were his wife and children along with other family members, friends, and several fellow attorneys.

Judge Cook’s last day on the bench will be Wednesday, August 31 and Judge Cox will hold court for the first time the following day, Thursday, September 1.

Cox’s term is for 8 years.

Meanwhile, the other newly elected county public officials are to take their oath of office at a swearing-in ceremony on Monday, August 29 at 5:30 p.m. in the auditorium of the Mike Foster Multi-Purpose Center.

The public officials to be sworn into office to begin their new 4-year terms of office effective September 1 are as follows:

Register of Deeds Daniel Seber

1st district- Tom Chandler and Daniel Cripps

2nd district- Sabrina Farler and Myron Rhody

3rd district-Tony Luna and Susannah Cripps Daughtry

4th district-Tony (Cully) Culwell and Greg Matthews

5th district-Larry Green and Glynn Merriman

6th district- Justin Douglas Adcock and Jeff Barnes

7th district-Beth Pafford and Timothy Reynolds
