The Area Agency on Aging and Disability (AAAD) is looking for individuals who are interested in making a difference in the lives of the elderly and disabled in the Guardianship program. These clients live in nursing homes, assisted living centers, and community living support (CLS) homes, many of who receive no regular visitors.
The agency, located in Cookeville, is a part of the Upper Cumberland Development District (UCDD), and serves 14 counties in the Upper Cumberland. Volunteers are needed in Cannon, Clay, Cumberland, DeKalb, Fentress, Jackson, Macon, Overton, Pickett, Putnam, Smith, Van Buren, Warren and White counties.
As a volunteer, you will be assigned to clients who reside in your area. They ask that you spend a minimum of one visit per month visiting; additional visits are left up to the volunteer. Training and support is provided by the Guardianship conservators and staff.
For more information, please contact Ingrid Bertmeyer, Volunteer Coordinator, at (931) 476-4181 or by email ibertmeyer@ucdd.org.
