Seniors Isaac Knowles and Haidyn Hale have been named Mr. and Miss DeKalb County High School for 2021-22.
Knowles is the son of Jared and Karen Knowles and Hale is the daughter of Chad Hale and Melissa Odom.
“This is a very large honor considering our teachers thought enough of us to select us to be part of the applicants for it and it means even more that our student body thought enough of us to choose us for this great honor,” said Knowles.
“Its very exciting to know our teachers nominated us and our peers voted for us. It’s a great honor to be chosen”, said Hale.
Both Knowles and Hale have excelled in high school both inside and outside the classroom.
“I have played football and baseball over the last four years and now for my senior year I have actually made the basketball team so I’ll be playing basketball this year and become a three sport athlete for my last year here,” said Knowles.
“I have cheered the last four years. My freshman year I cheered for basketball and for the past three years I have cheered for football,” said Hale.
In the classroom, Knowles and Hale take honors and dual enrollment classes to obtain college credit through online studies with Motlow State Community College and both are straight A students and members of the prestigious 21 + Club.
Knowles has been involved with the FFA and FBLA clubs while Hale is a member of the Beta, FBLA, Climate Crew and other clubs.
Hale said she wants to go on to college after high school and become a dental hygienist while Knowles has plans to hopefully play football on the collegiate level and obtain a Bachelor’s Degree to pursue a career in agronomy.
