The DeKalb County Lady Tigers won their first game of the District 8 AA Basketball Tournament Wednesday night eliminating Watertown 48 to 30.
The Lady Tigers, the 5th seed in the tournament, will meet Cannon County, the 4th seed on Friday night, February 16 at 6 p.m. WJLE will have LIVE coverage.
The tournament is being played at Hooper Eblen Center on the campus of Tennessee Tech University in Cookeville.
In the game Wednesday night, DeKalb County led 16 to 1 after the 1st period, 24 to 10 at halftime, and 42 to 21 after the 3rd period before winning 48 to 30
Lydia Brown scored 18 for the Lady Tigers. Kenzie France 8, Mya Ruch 7, Emme Colwell 6, Megan Walker 4, Maddison Parsley with 3 and Mallori Hart with 2.
Meanwhile the Smith County Owls eliminated Cannon County in the boys tournament Wednesday night winning 56 to 40. The Owls, the 5th seed, will meet York Institute, the 4th seed in the tournament, on Friday night, February 16 at 7:30 p.m.
Games scheduled tonight, Thursday, February 15 Livingston Academy, the 6th seed, will face York Institute, the 3rd seed, in the girls tournament at 6 p.m. In the boys tournament, Watertown, the 7th seed, will meet Macon County, the 3rd seed at 7:30 p.m.
