Mejia Indicted for Aggravated Rape of Child

A 23 year old Smithville man charged in December with the aggravated rape of a child was indicted by the new term of the DeKalb County Grand Jury Monday.

Ruben Alavez Mejia will be arraigned in Criminal Court next Monday, April 8.

Mejia was arrested on Thursday, December 6, 2018 at 703 Snow Street by Smithville Police. He is accused of having sex with a 12 year old girl on several occasions from the time she was 11 years old.

He was also indicted in a separate offense for driving under the influence and DUI per se

Mejia is among 28 people indicted by the Grand Jury Monday including three named in sealed indictments.

Those indicted and their charges except for the sealed indictments are as follows:

Daniel Aguirre-driving under the influence, simple possession of a schedule VI drug, violation of the open container law, and DUI per se

Brandon Lyle Bohannon-theft over $2,500

Erik Thomas Dunn- especially aggravated kidnapping and 4 counts of aggravated assault

Rodney Hugo Gora, II-2 counts of aggravated assault and 2 counts of domestic assault

Mark Anthony Graham- driving under the influence

Christopher Ryan Inge-aggravated assault

Jason Dewayne Johnson- solicitation of a minor

Brandi Niccole Kirby- driving on a suspended license

Jackson Bailey Manley- driving on a suspended license and violation of financial responsibility

Troy Eugene Martin- 2nd offense of driving under the influence, violation of the implied consent law, violation of the open container law, and DUI per se

Howard Robert Mayo, Jr.- 6th offense of driving on a revoked license, simple possession of a schedule II drug, possession of drug paraphernalia, and violation of the registration law

William Oscar Meadows- driving under the influence and possession of a handgun while under the influence

Ruben Alavez Mejia- aggravated rape of a child and driving under the influence and DUI per se

Autumn Marilta Morris- driving on a suspended license, violation of the seatbelt law, violation of financial responsibility, violation of the registration law, and violation of the light law

Timothy William Patrick- auto burglary and theft over $1,000

Brian Quirino-driving under the influence, 2nd offense of driving on a revoked license, and DUI per se

Wallace Marlon Rackley-unlawful possession of a weapon by a convicted felon

Clarence Edward Sexton, Jr.- 3rd offense of driving on a revoked license

Kristie Renea Shehane- 3rd offense of driving under the influence, reckless endangerment, and DUI per se

Amanda Nichole Smith-driving on a revoked license and violation of financial responsibility

Justin Lynn Smith- simple possession of a schedule II drug and possession of drug paraphernalia

Jose Benjamin Soto-driving under the influence, DUI per se, assault, and resisting

Julian Guerrero Soto- 2nd offense of DUI and DUI per se

John Sutton- auto burglary, theft over $2,500, and vandalism under $1,000

Shannon Eugene Tayes-driving under the influence, simple possession of a schedule II drug, violation of the implied consent law, violation of financial responsibility, and speeding
