Billie Robinson celebrated her 100th birthday in a special way Sunday.
In spite of the coronavirus pandemic and the need for social distancing, relatives and friends including her church family found a way to make the celebration for Mrs. Robinson, a resident at the Webb House Retirement Center, one to remember.
Members of the New Life United Pentecostal Church organized a parade to pass by the center as Mrs Robinson, wearing her mask, sat on the front porch waving to each one in the long procession who drove through for the big surprise. Family members stood nearby at a safe distance to share in the special moment with Billie who was surrounded by balloons and signs which read “I am 100 today” and “100 strong Granny Billie. Happy Birthday. Love”.
“I never thought of reaching 100. My advice to anybody especially as you get older is don’t go in the house and sit down and do nothing. Keep busy. Don’t give up,” said Mrs. Robinson.
