DeKalb County High School has released the names of the 44 Top Rank students in the Class of 2023 including the Valedictorian Robert Wheeler and the Salutatorian Amelia Atnip.
Wheeler is the son of Kim Wheeler and the late Scott Wheeler and Atnip is the daughter Jessica and Chris Higgins and Jason and Karen Atnip.
To be considered for top Rank, students must take at least 10 honors, dual enrollment, and AP courses and students must have a 21 or higher ACT composite score.
Wheeler has played basketball for DCHS for 4 years and is a member of Beta, FBLA, and the ACT 29+ Club. His future plans after graduating is to attend college and pursue his goal of becoming a physician.
Atnip is a 3-year basketball cheerleader and served as one of the captains on the cheer team. She is a member of FBLA, ACT 21+ club, Service Society, Science Club, Literature Club, and Spanish Club. Her future plans after graduating is to attend MTSU and acquire a degree.
