The second annual Wag N Wash event will be Saturday, June 22 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the parking lot of the Sarah Cripps law officer, 201 West Main Street, downtown Smithville. All proceeds from this event will go to the care of the animals at the DeKalb Animal Shelter. The prices are $8.00 for a small dog, $10 for a medium sized dog, and $12 for a large dog.
“The DeKalb Animal Coalition is a 501 c3 nonprofit organization that manages and operates our animal shelter and takes care of dogs and cats. We also have a fully certified animal control officer who conducts investigations of abuse and neglect or animal cruelty,” said Sarah Cripps, President of the DeKalb Animal Coalition Board of Directors.
“As an organization, our mission is to take care of those animals that cannot take care of themselves or that have been maltreated. We also seek out opportunities to give back to the community and one of those is called the Wag N Wash. We will be holding this event on Saturday, June 22 beginning at 10 a.m. and ending at 1 p.m. It will be in the parking lot of my law office and that address is 201 West Main Street. We are just across from FirstBank downtown and we will have signage in the parking lot. That is where we will be having the dog wash. The coalition board members will be the ones taking care of the dogs that day. We will be washing the dogs so we want you to come and make us work hard,” said Cripps.
“Our board consists of myself along with Marsha Darrah, Sue Puckett, Denise Brown (Treasurer), Susan DeMay, Renee Ferguson, Creed Colgan, and Jackie Vickers”.
“All funds go directly to our non-profit organization and will be used for various things such as purchasing pet food, bowls, kennels, vaccines, animal control and dog behavioral training, investigation and prosecution of animal control cases, getting dogs to rescues, facilitating information that we put up to help get our dogs adopted timely, etc,” said Cripps.
“We encourage everybody to visit the shelter and we certainly invite you to come on Saturday, June 22 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Bring your dog and make us work. Let us give back to the community for just a small fee,” said Cripps.
