The stage is set for the Tennessee General Election on November 8th.
On the ballot will be candidates for Governor, U.S. House of Representatives, and Tennessee House of Representatives.
Incumbent Republican Governor Bill Lee will be challenged by Democrat Jason Brantley Martin. Statewide, Governor Lee, who ran unopposed in the GOP Primary Thursday, received 494,195 votes while Martin garnered 101,221 to win the State Democratic Primary over two challengers, JB Smiley Jr., who received 99,753 votes, and Carnita Faye Atwater, who had 56, 061 votes statewide.
In DeKalb County, Governor Lee received 2,893 votes in the State GOP Primary. On the Democratic Primary Ballot, Martin had 302 votes in DeKalb County while Atwater received 158 votes and Smiley got 111 votes.
Sixth District Congressman John Rose won the State GOP Primary unopposed with 57,115 votes district-wide. In DeKalb County Congressman Rose had 2,626 votes. His Democratic opponent in November will be Randal Cooper who won the State Primary with 17,071 votes. Cooper defeated Clay Faircloth in the Democratic Primary. Faircloth received 5,798 votes.
In DeKalb County, Cooper had 398 votes to 123 for Faircloth.
The Tennessee House of Representatives-District 40 candidates are Republican Michael Hale and Democrat Tom Cook, both of DeKalb County. Hale secured the Republican nomination for the office on Thursday, defeating Incumbent Republican State Representative Terri Lynn Weaver district wide 6,696 to 4,542. Hale won DeKalb with 2,392 votes compared to 1,152 for Weaver. Cook, the Democratic nominee, received 1,464 votes in the district including 504 in DeKalb County.
