Teen Sentenced for Auto Burglary and Theft

An 18 year old man who allegedly stole a vehicle last year as a juvenile appeared for sentencing in criminal court Tuesday.

Judge Wesley Bray presided.

John Allen Sutton entered a plea to auto burglary and theft over $2,500. He received a two year sentence to serve in each case to run concurrently with each other and with a Sumner County sentence against him. He must make restitution of $250 payable to New Frontiers, the victim of the theft.

Sutton was charged with the crime in a juvenile petition last year in an offense that occurred on July 6, 2018 when he was 17 years old. His case was later transferred to criminal court where he had to face the charges as an adult.

In other cases, 45 year old Jose Salvador Rayas entered a plea to driving under the influence and received a sentence of 11 months and 29 days all suspended to probation except for 48 hours to serve. He will be allowed to do the time in a DUI education center. His license will also be revoked pursuant to state department of safety regulations.

22 year old Daniel A. Aguirre entered a plea to driving under the influence and received a sentence of 11 months and 29 days all suspended to probation except for 48 hours to serve.
