Thursday is the Qualifying Deadline for 2020 Assessor of Property and Constable Races

Persons interested in running for Assessor of Property and Constable in the DeKalb County Democratic Primary in March have until noon Thursday, December 12 to qualify with the Election Commission Office.

Local primaries will be held in conjunction with the Presidential Preference Primary on March 3.

The DeKalb County Democratic Party will hold a primary for the office of Assessor of Property and Constable in all seven districts.

Tom Duggin is seeking the Democratic nomination for DeKalb County Assessor of Property and the following persons plan to run for Constable in the Democratic Primary:

Waylon Kyle in the 1st District
Darrell Johnson in the 2nd District
Paul Cantrell in the 4th District
Mark Milam in the 5th District
Jason Brown in the 6th District
Johnny King in the 7th District.

Cantrell, Milam and King are incumbents seeking re-election.

The winners of the Democratic Primary on March 3 will run in the August, 2020 DeKalb County General Election

The DeKalb County Republican Party has already nominated its candidates for the August election, Incumbent Assessor of Property Shannon Cantrell, who is seeking re-election and Travis Bryant, who currently holds the office of 3rd District Constable. Bryant has switched parties and will be running in August for the same office as the Republican nominee.

Independents wishing to run for Assessor of Property or Constable in the August 2020 County General Elections must also qualify by noon on Thursday, December 12.

The Qualifying deadline—Noon December 12
Voter registration deadline—February 3, 2020
Early Voting period—Feb. 12 through February 25, 2020.
