Tigers and Lady Tigers Fall Short at Smith County

The DCHS Tigers dropped a close one at Carthage Tuesday night losing to the Smith County Owls 61 to 60 while the Lady Tigers were defeated 76 to 53.

In the boys contest, the Tigers led 12 to 11 after the 1st period but fell behind 32 to 27 by halftime and trailed 47 to 40 after the 3rd period before losing to the Owls 61 to 60.

Jon Hendrix pumped in 28 points for the Tigers followed by Dallas Kirby with 10, Jordan Parker 8, Seth Fuson 5, Porter Hancock 4, Elliot Barnes 3 and Logan Duke with 2.

Smith County outscored DC 30 to 11 in the 1st period of the girls game and led 50 to 32 at halftime. The Owlettes held a 71 to 43 lead after the 3rd period and went on to defeat the Lady Tigers 76 to 53.

Chloe VanVranken scored 16 for DC followed by Allie Melton with 11, Lillie Young 9, Jordyn Agee and Brooklyn Fuson each with 6 and Avery Agee 5.

The Tigers (1-5) and the Lady Tigers (2-4) will host Watertown Friday night, December 6. The girls game will tip off at 6 p.m. followed by the boys game and WJLE will broadcast both LIVE.
