The DeKalb County Tigers will close out the regular season tonight (Friday) as they host the Cumberland County Jets on Senior Night in Smithville.
The season for the Tigers, 2-7 overall and 0-3 in Region 3, Class 4A, is not what they had hoped for but a win tonight would get them in the State Play-Offs next week as the 4th place team from this region. Their opponent would be either Tullahoma or Maplewood.
The Tigers have beaten Warren County 19-14 and Grundy County 28-6. Their losses have been to Upperman 43-0, Stone Memorial 35-0, Watertown 48-14, Cannon County 19-7, Livingston Academy 27-6, Smith County 47-34, and Macon County 20-17.
Cumberland County is 1-8 overall and 0-3 in the region. The Jets’ only credited win was a forfeit against Powell. Their losses have been to York Institute 41-0, Livingston Academy 41-3, Pigeon Forge 27-7, Macon County 15-0, Upperman 63-0, Meigs County 42-3, Sequatchie County 56-13, and Stone Memorial 55 to 10.
