Two DeKalb West School students finished in the Top 10 of a recent math competition at Tennessee Tech University. Leyton Scarbrough placed 4th out of 148 8th grade students while Kaitlyn Swearinger placed 8th out of 140 7th graders.
Four students from each of the 6th, 7th, and 8th grades at DWS traveled to the TTU Middle/High School Math Competition with 8th grade math teacher Dwayne Blair on April 7. Representing DeKalb West School from the 6th grade were Gabriel Blair, Josh Floyd, Tori Harbaugh, and Kaden Mullinax; from the 7th grade—Swearinger, Porter Hancock, Autumn Crook, and Sophie Desimone; from the 8th grade—Scarbrough, Ethan Brown, Jesse Foutch, and Ben Driver.
