The DCHS Tigers took the Livingston Academy Wildcats to overtime but lost 63 to 61 Tuesday night in a district showdown in Smithville. The Lady Tigers also lost 54 to 45.

The Tigers (8-7, 1-2) and the Lady Tigers (9-7,0-3) will host district foe Macon County Friday night, January 7 starting with the girls’ game at 6 p.m. followed by the boys’ game and will close out the week hosting Warren County on Saturday, January 8 with the girls’ game set to tipoff at 1 p.m. followed by the boys game. In the girls’ game Tuesday night, the Lady Tigers trailed 12 to 6 after the 1st period, 25 to 10 at halftime, and 42 to 29 after the 3rd period before falling 54 to 45.
Ella VanVranken scored 13 followed by Dare Collins 11, Kadee Ferrell 10, Xharia Lyons, Ella Hendrixson, and Avery Agee each with 3 and Madison Martin 2.
The Tigers found themselves down 19 to 17 after the 1st period and 25 to 24 by halftime. DC led 38 to 37 after the 3rd period. The game was tied at 54 by the end of regulation but the Wildcats were a bucket better in the overtime session and won 63 to 61.
