Roger Ronald Courtemanche, Jr., age 68 of Smithville,TN, beloved husband of Linda Fayette Courtemanche, passed away at his residence on Thursday, May 19, 2022 at 2:30PM.

Son of the late Roger and Ida T. Brown Courtemanche, Sr, he was born on February 5, 1954 in Rockville, CT. He was a native of Stanley, NC and made Smithville, TN his home the last 16 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 sons, Eric Courtemanche and Brian Courtemanche; 3 sisters, Dawn Wilcox, Katherine Gagnon and Mary Kelley and brother-in-law, Daniel Carmody.

Roger was a man of many talents, loved by his family and friends and will be missed by all who knew him. Roger had a great passion for being an entrepreneur, short story writer and loved his pontoon boat fishing. He held numerous jobs such as milkman (his first ever), retail at Sky City, working on an oil rig, an electrician by trade, and overseeing self-owned companies such as his most recent with GMR Facility Maintenance. Roger had many of his own great stories and was devoted to bringing his family together. He was associated with the Smithville Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Fayette Courtemanche of Smithville; daughter, Stephanie Courtemanche (Carla) of North Carolins; step-daughter, Tamara Paulsen of Smithville; 2 step-sons, Paul Fayette and Matthew Fayette both of Smithville; grandchildren, Autumn Courvis, Erica Courtemanche, Joel McCracken, Skyler Fayette, Zaxtin, Celebra and Lela Fayette, Tessa, Giana and Emerson Paulsen; brother, Eugene (Betty) Courtemanche of Cherryville, NC; 2 sisters, Ann Carmody of Tolland, CT and Terri Valente of Vernon, CT; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation with the family will be at DeKalb Funeral Chapel, 863 S. Congress Blvd, Smithville, TN 37166 on Thursday 10:AM until the time of the service at 11. Services will be held on Thursday, May 25, 2022 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Eric Kuokarni officiating.

74-year-old William L. “Willie” Cole was born August 21, 1947 in Gray, Ky. and passed away May 16, 2022 at Quality Care in Lebanon. Willie was preceded in death by his grandparents that raised him, Will and Mae Frost, his Parents Harold Cole and Annabelle Stanley and his sister, Joann Stone. Willie is survived by his wife of 39 years, Deborah Goss Cole, his children, Tasha (Philip) Waggoner, Derrick Johnson (Kim Cantrell), Sheri Ford, Jerry (Margo) Cole, Toni Cole and Christy Lawson. He is survived by grandchildren, Hagen, Hasten and Haven Waggoner and 11 more grandchildren. He is survived by 7 great-grandchildren. Willie worked for T.V.A. but for a time he was a deputy for the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department and assistant chief at the Alexandria Police Department. He also did block and concrete masonry. The funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria. Wilson Williams will officiate and burial will be in Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 1-8 p.m. and Thursday from 10 a.m. until the service at 2 p.m. Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria is in charge of the arrangements.

Linson Farless age 76 of Morrison passed away Wednesday evening, May 11, 2022 at NHC HealthCare Center n McMinnville. He was born June 3, 1945 in Van Buren County to his parents, the late John Herman and Delma Hillis Farless. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Deborah J. Farless; sisters, Wavie Schrecengost and Mary Farless; brothers, Carson Farless, Leonard Farless and William Thomas Farless; and nephew, Ronnie Schrecengost. Linson was a plain country man that loved and was loved by so many. He was a hard worker and loved working the land. He worked in nursery work and to have only had a 3rd grade education, he knew more about plants and trees than someone with a degree. Linson was funny and enjoyed life. He was a member of the McMinnville Church of God, formerly Locust Street Chruch of God. He leaves to cherish his memory, 3 daughters, Lisa (Brian) Holt and Amy (Brent) Aughinbaugh both of McMinnville and Clarlisa Farless of Cookeville; 4 grandchildren, Alicia (Brandon) Knight, Ciara Holt, Beckham Holt and Malachi Aughinbaugh; 2 great-grandchildren, Gracie and Sadie; honorary family members, The family of his late wife, Deborah J. Farless; brother, Troy Farless; 2 sisters, Earlene Jennings and Debra Bess; sister-in-law, Janice Farless; several nieces and nephews and a host of family and friends. A Celebration of Life honoring his life, will be 1 PM Saturday May 14, 2022 at the McMinnville Church of God with Bro. Tommy Burke officiating and burial will follow in Crain Hill Cemetery in Van Buren County. Visitation will be Saturday 11:AM until the time of the service at 1 PM at the McMinnville Church of God. In addition to flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the McMinnville Church of God, in loving memory of Mr. Linson. The family would like to extend a special “Thank You” to the staff of NHC McMinnville and Caris Hospice for the love and care shown to Mr. Farless. 80-year-old Charles Bethel Williams of Alexandria passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday. Charles was born October 10, 1941 to the late J.B. and Haley Williams. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Mike Williams.

Charles was a devoted family man and loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, who all affectionately called him “Papa”. He was a devoted Christian and a member of First Baptist Church of Alexandria. He was a sports fanatic and a diehard Vandy fan, unless they were losing. He loved farming, horses, and working outside. He was employed at WorkWear Corporation until it closed and retired from DTC after 12 years of service.

Survivors include his wife, Sherry Williams; daughter, Julie and son-in-law Jeff Young of Alexandria; granddaughter Chelsie and Michael Shaw of Lebanon; grandson, Charles Young of Alexandria and fiancé Morgan Bruce of Lebanon; great granddaughter, Ann Baleigh Shaw of Lebanon; brother Jimmy “Mutt” and Judy Williams of Gassaway; and a sister Betty and Bill Landrum of Lexington, Kentucky; extended family members Jacob and Crystal Young and children Madyson, Kylie, Hunter, and Lina of Spencer; Joey Hight and children Kayla, Zachary, and Ethan of Pennsylvania; nephew Marty and Kim Williams and children Macey, Molly and T. Wayne of Gassaway; niece Christy and Tommy Lackey; J.C. and Tyler Smith of Woodbury; niece Ashley and Ben Brown and son Carter of Short Mountain; and nephew Drew Baldinger of Lexington, Kentucky.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, 101 Locust Street, Alexandria with Billy Friel officiating. Burial will follow in Hillview Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church. Anderson’s Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to “Operation Christmas Child” at First Baptist Church, Alexandria in memory of Charles.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Roger McKinney and Family Medical of Lebanon, Bobbie Sue, Ashlyn and Tina of Avalon Hospice for the exceptional care shown to Charles and the family during his extended illness and final care.

Charles was loved and adored by many and will be dearly missed. Romans 8:18 “For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us”.

Bobby Lane Cantrell age 58, of the Belk Community, passed away Monday May 9, 2022 at his residence. He was born December 8, 1963 to his parents, Linda Graham Cantrell and the late Billy Gene Cantrell. He worked in Manufacturing. He is survived by his mother, Linda Cantrell of Smithville; sister, Donna (Phillip) Summerford of Arthur, IL; brother, Darryl (Rachel) Cantrell of Smithville; nieces and nephews, Alizabeth Frazier, Hailey Stotts, Hannah Cantrell, Mareia Cantrell and Ethan Cantrell. Graveside Services and interment will be 5 PM Thursday May 12, 2022 at New Union Cemetery in the Belk Community with Bro. Michael Hale officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 2 PM till 4 PM at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. We will leave at 4 PM to go to the New Union Cemetery for the graveside service. The family ask that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to DeKalb Funeral Chapel to help with funeral expenses. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Ronald Lawrence Huffstetler, was born on June 16, 1937. He lived a long and accomplished life. He was the first born of Clarence and Minnie Huffstetler, and he had three younger brothers, Norman, Jack, and Harris. He grew up in an idyllic setting on the western slopes of the Appalachian Mountains, off Block House Road, in a place called Carpenters Campground, just outside of Maryville in east Tennessee. He was a graduate of Everett High School.

During the mid-1950’s in the hills of east Tennessee, the New York Yankees came calling, and he signed up to play baseball with them right out of high school. Ronald then spent a couple of memorable years playing baseball for the Yankees organization in the Nebraska farm leagues. Afterwards, he spend a short stint at the University of Tennessee where he met his wife, Peggy. He then joined the United States Air Force Reserves and served at Stewart Air Force base in Smyrna, Tennessee. While on deployment in Puerto Rico, he injured his ankle and was honorable discharged. While recuperating from this injury, he picked up a guitar and began a career as a county music entertainer where he was noticed and picked up by Buddy Killen and signed with United Artist. He was a member of the Country Music Song Writer’s Association and went by the stage name, Rink Hardin.He went on to write songs for Marty Robbins and Johnny Horton. He performed at the Grand Ole Opry several times and toured with likes of Jerry Lee Lewis, Roger Miller, and George Jones over the years.

After he left the music business, he began work on the shipping docks and H.D. Lee Company near Nashville, TN. He rose through the ranks where he became a member of the management team. After retiring from Lee, he and his wife built a cabin on a farm in Lebanon before finally settling down to the family place on Hurricane Ridge at Center Hill Lake.

Ronald was preceded in life by his father and mother, Clarence and Minnie and brother Norman.

He is survived by his wife Peggy; brothers, Jack and Harris; sons, Marlon and wife Ginger; and Ricky; grandchildren, Mitchell, Grayson, Garrett, and Morgan. He passed away quietly at his home of natural causes on Sunday, May 8, 2022 at 84 years of age.

Visitation with the family will be on Wednesday, May 11 from 10am until the time of the funeral service at 1pm at the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Burial will follow at DeKalb Memorial Gardens.
