Mary Louise House

October 19, 2021

Mary Louise House age 91 of Dowelltown passed away Monday morning October 18, 2021 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. Miss House was born June 13, 1930 to her parents the late Condell and Mary Lillian Close House. She was also preceded in death by siblings, Drucy Mai Midgett, Martha Lee Lamberson, Haley J. House, Frances Miller, Ova Lorene Campbell, Sarah Evelyn Nokes, F. D. House, James Lee House, Robert Lee House. Miss Lou was a Baptist and disabled. She is survived by 3 brothers, Bill (Susan) House of Dowelltown, Carter (Sue) House of Alexandria, and Douglas (Dinah) House of Liberty; several nieces and nephews also survive. Graveside service and interment will be 1 PM Wednesday October 20, 2021 at Gordonsville Cemetery with Bro. Donald Owens officiating. There will not be any visitation or services at the funeral home, family and friends will meet at the cemetery for graveside service at 1 PM. The family ask that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Lighthouse Christian Camp, in memory of Miss Lou. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.




Sage Micheal Boyer

October 19, 2021

Sage Micheal Boyer age 13 of Liberty, formerly of Cookeville, and originally from Lafayette, Louisiana, passed away October 10, 2021 at St. Thomas DeKalb Hospital. Sage was born October 15, 2007 to his mother, Patience Patin. He was preceded in death by grandfather, Kenneth Patin; grandmother, Trudy Hall; great- grandmother, Valada Babin; great-grandfather, Laris Babin. He was a member of Life Church in Cookeville, and was a member of the Wrestling Team at Algood Middle School. He is survived by his mother, Patience Patin (Nick Janecke) of Liberty, siblings, Kayden Boyer of Liberty, Averi Boyer and Adali Boyer both of Lafayette Parish, LA; grandparents, Charlotte Patin of Lafayette Parish, LA, Douglas Gianelloni of Lafayette Parish, LA, Kitty and Andrew Janecke of Murfreesboro, TN; nanny, Monique Girard of Lafayette Parish, LA; Parrin, Carl Patin of Lafayette Parish, LA,: cousins, Taylor Girard, Tyler Girard, Kurstin Patin, Tripp Horton. The family has chosen direct cremation. A celebration of life service will be held at a later date in Lafayette, Louisiana. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.




Billy L. Easterly

October 18, 2021

Billy L. Easterly, age 88, of Smithville, Tennessee passed away on Friday, October 15, 2021 at his home.

Bill was born on June 30, 1933, to his parents George and Mary Easterly in Pickett County, Tennessee. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Earl Easterly.

Bill is survived by Willa Dean, his beloved wife of 63 years, their three sons Billy (Elizabeth), Jeffery (Jenny), and Jason (Meghan), six granddaughters, three grandsons, and his sister, Gay Hill of Dayton, Ohio.

After high school, Bill joined the Army and served as a corporal in the U.S. Infantry in Korea from 1952 to 1953. After the war, he returned to Tennessee and entered college at Tennessee Tech where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture. Bill moved to Smithville in 1963 and was the DeKalb County supervisor of the Farmers Home Administration from 1963 to 1979 and district director of the program until 1995. He was a long-time president of the DeKalb County Little League. After retirement, Bill earned his appraisers license and ran a successful appraisal business until he retired in 2013. Bill is remembered fondly for his love of family, work ethic, strong morals, and kind heart.

The family will receive friends on Friday, October 22, 2021 at Love-Cantrell Funeral Home beginning at 4:00 with the funeral service to begin at 7:00.




Doyle Harrison Keaton

October 17, 2021

Doyle Harrison Keaton age 77 of Liberty, died Friday evening, Oct. 15, 2021 at his home. Born June 11, 1944, he was the son of the late Johnie and Fannie Bell Hale Keaton and was preceded in death by his sister, Olida Malone and brothers, Jack, Joe, Bobby Ray, Larry and W.J. Keaton. His wife of 54 years, Peggy Thomason Keaton died Jan. 3, 2021. Doyle was a skilled carpenter for many years and the operator of Keaton’s Backhoe Service. He is survived by his son, Danny Keaton of Liberty; daughter, Joanie Blackburn and her husband, Chris of Auburntown; grandchildren, Tasha Bundy, Shaina (Darren Womack) Byars, Emily Keaton and Jordan (Hailey) Blackburn; great grandchildren, Tyler Vickers, Logan Bundy, Lexie Thomas and Hadley Womack; brother, James Keaton; nieces and nephews. Family and friends will gather at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 18, 2021 at Prosperity Cemetery for graveside services and interment with Bro. David Moody officiating. Pallbearers, Chris Blackburn, Jordan Blackburn, Darren Womack. HUNTER FUNERAL HOME in Watertown is in charge of the arangements




Maudell Judkins Womack

Mrs. Maudell Judkins Womack age 99 of McMinnville, TN, (Dibrell Community) died Saturday, October 09, 2021, at her home surrounded by family. She was born March 15, 1922, in Smithville, TN, was a homemaker, and a member of Gath Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening, planting flowers, and telling personal stories about the history of her life. Mrs. Womack was preceded in death by parents Poper and Ruth Lynam Judkins, husband Austin Womack, son Don (Vickie) Womack, sister Ravanell Judkins Driver, and brothers Troy, Glenn, and Tommy Judkins.

Survivors include son Doug (Carolyn Faye) Womack, grandchildren Melanie Womack, Cristi (Brian) Waters, Jeremy (Chasity) Womack, and Bethany (Micah) Nunley, great-grandchildren Ashland Behling, Colby Schleif, Braxton Waters, Nadia Nunley, and Connor Waters, great-great grandchildren Isaac Greene, Arian Lane, Milo Chapman, and Waylon Stoner, and brother Billy Roy Judkins. Several nieces, nephews, family members, and friends also survive.

Graveside service and interment will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, October 13, 2021, at DeKalb Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Smithville. Bro. Rick Stewart and Bro. John Padgett will officiate. There will be no public visitation at the funeral home, the Womack Family will meet friends at DeKalb Memorial Gardens.

Wesley Chiles Nokes

October 8, 2021

Wesley Chiles Nokes age 40 of Liberty passed away Wednesday night at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. He was born May 7, 1981 to his parents, Bill and Kathy Hale Nokes. Wesley was preceded in death by his grandparents, Billy and Bobbie Hale, Clyde and Maxine Nokes. He attended the Old Short Mountain Methodist Church. Wesley had a BS in Aerospace and was the former manager of the Smithville Municipal Airport and aerospace was one of his passions. He was a powertrain claims adjuster with Smart Auto Care. To know the Nokes family, you know their love for music and Wesley loved playing music. He leaves to cherish his memory, 1 son, Koen Bradley Nokes of Liberty; parents, Bill and Kathy Nokes of Liberty; sister, Natasha (James) Anderson of Woodland; niece and nephew, Lakelynn and Noah Anderson; fiancé, Nicole Hite of Liberty; several aunts, uncles and cousins also survive. Graveside services and interment will be 1 PM Saturday, October 9, 2021 at Melton Cemetery with Bro. Donald Owens officiating. Visitation will be Friday 4 PM until 7 PM at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. There will not be any visitation on Saturday, family and friends will meet at the Melton Cemetery for the graveside service at 1 PM. The funeral home lounge is closed at this time and no food or drinks are allowed in the funeral home. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
