Patricia Lee White Parsley

Patricia Lee White Parsley age 81, of Smithville passed away Tuesday May 11, 2021 at NHC of Smithville. She was born February 12, 1940 to her parents, the late Chester Rae and Mary Lou Cantrell White. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Solon Parsley; sister, Sharon Young; nephew, Anthony White, Jr,; step-daughter, Francis Elkins; cousin, Tom Davison. Ms. Patricia was a Presbyterian and a housewife. She is survived by her brother, Anthony M. (Pamela S. ) White of Loveland, Ohio; grandniece, Cassidy; grandnephew, Kieran; cousin, Kevin Davison of Detroit, MI; step-grandchildren, Johnny Whitt, Rodney McGinnis, Mark McGinnis, and Kim & Andera. Funeral services will be Friday May 14, 2021 at 1:00PM at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with burial to follow in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Friday 11:00AM until the time of the service at 1:00PM at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Due to COVID-19, we ask for the health and safety of everyone that you please exercise social distancing. The funeral home lounge is closed at this time and NO food or drinks are allowed in the funeral home. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.




Mary Sue Smiley

Mrs. Mary Sue Smiley Age 95 of Dickson passed away on Thursday at her residence. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. There will be a graveside service on Monday at 1:00 pm with burial in Town Cemetery. Bro. Dan Gulley will be officiating.

Mrs. Smiley was a member of the Church Of Christ and was a retired secretary with the IRS.

She was preceded in death by her 2 husbands James Carl Ogilvie and Robert Earl Smiley, parents Athol and Cleo Foster, and brother Athol Kay Foster (Julia). Mrs Smiley is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Sue Sowers and husband Doak, and Mary Elizabeth Barger and husband Tom, a son James Carl Ogilvie Jr. and his wife Kathy, step-son Robert E. Smiley; Five grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, one sister, Sammie Rhea George (Hugh).

David Lane McDowell

May 6, 2021

David Lane McDowell age 63 of Baxter, passed away in Miami, Florida on Sunday, May 2, 2021. He was born January 14, 1958 to his parents, the late Louie B. and Willa Mae Hayes McDowell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Louie McDowell, Jr and a sister, Patricia Clayborn. He was a Baptist and worked at Averitt for 25 years in Risk Management. David served on the DeKalb County Commission from 2010-2014. David leaves to cherish his memory, 1 daughter, Mary Kathryn “Katie” McDowell of Atlanta, GA; 2 sisters, Cheryl K. (David) Bower of Shelbyville, TN and Cathy L. (Ronnie) Gay of Fayetteville, TN; 10 nieces and nephews. The family is honoring David’s request to be cremated and a Memorial Graveside Service will be held 3 p.m. Monday, May 10, 2021 at Prosperity Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be on Monday 12 Noon until 2:30 p.m. at which time Mr. McDowell’s cremains will be taken to the cemetery for the graveside service. Due to Covid-19, we ask for the health and safety of everyone that you please exercise social distancing. The funeral home lounge is closed at this time and no food or drinks are allowed in the funeral home. Martha Jane Gothard Partridge

May 4, 2021

Martha Jane Partridge passed away on May 3, 2021 at age 61. The Memorial Service, conducted by Dan Dozier, is 5 p.m. Monday, May 10, 2021 in the chapel of Sellars Funeral Home, Lebanon. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home on Monday from 2 p.m. until the service at 5 p.m.

Martha Jane Gothard Partridge was born in Smithville TN to Martha Eloise Holcomb and Karl Lee Gothard. She loved her job as a Scrub Tech and in Labor and Delivery at Vanderbilt Wilson County Medical Center. Outside of her job, she enjoyed time with her family and everything outdoors from the sand and surf of the beach to mowing the yard.

Ms. Partridge is survived by her sons James Matthew Beard, John (Ashley) Partridge, and Luke Partridge, grandchildren Grant Lee Partridge and Mason Tucker Partridge, siblings Randall Karl Gothard and Sarah Smith, sister-in-law Joy Buck-Gothard, nieces and nephews Brittany (Andrew) Kuykendall, Adam Gothard, and Sarah Abigail Smith, and great-niece and nephew, Maverick and Hampton Smith, Samuel and Christina Kuykendall. She is preceded at death by parents Martha and Karl Gothard.

Audrey D. Redmon Knowles Russell

May 3, 2021

Audrey D. Redmon Knowles Russell, age 89 was born on June 17, 1931 and went to be with her Lord & Savior on Monday, May 3, 2021 at the Webb House Retirement Home in McMinnville where she was residing.

She was the oldest child of Charlie Roston Redmon & Lorene Slatton Redmon who preceded her in death. Audrey grew up in the Indian Mound Community of DeKalb County, TN. Her most precious memories were of attending church at Indian Mound The Baptist Church where she had been a member since 1946 and attended all her life. Audrey was married to Eston Knowles on Feb. 11, 1950 and were married for 58 years until his death in 2008. She helped her husband in Eston Knowles Reality for over 40 years. They lived and raised their 3 sons in Sparta & Smithville, TN. She was later married to Tom Russell of McMinnville in 2009 until his passing in 2017.

Audrey is survived by her sons, Levoy & Teresa Knowles of McMinnville, TN, Terry & Pamela Knowles of Murfreesboro, TN & Chuck Knowles & Amanda Gibbons of Nashville, TN. Grandchildren, Bryan & Samantha Knowles of Knoxville, TN, Andy & Chelsea Knowles of McMinnville, TN, Ashley & Hayden Campbell of Nashville, TN & Caitlyn Knowles of Clarksville, TN. Step Grandchildren, Paige & Austin Gaskell of Murfreesboro, TN & Peyton Manis & fiance Chase Roberts of Murfreesboro, TN, Madison Bailey, Anna Marie Bailey & Kaitlyn Bailey of Panama City Beach, FL. Step Children, Cynthia & Rayburn Pedigo & family, Melissa & Joey Livesay & family, Tony & Angie Russell & family. Great Grandchildren who were such a joy to her, Parker & Kinsley Knowles, Beckett, Lawson & Lake Knowles. Sister, Charlene Pickett & a Brother and Sister-in-law, Keith & Sherry Redmon. Sisters-in-law, Ruth Redmon & Louise Knowles. Her special aunt, Gladys Stephens Luna Prater. Audrey has many nieces, nephews, church family, the Webb House family, and friends who survive.

Mrs. Russell was preceded in death by her husbands, Eston Knowles & Tom Russell, her parents, infant brother, James Calvin Redmon, brother & his wife, John & Imelda Redmon and Royce Redmon. Sister & brother-in-law, Betty & Herman Prater. Brothers-in-law & wife, Jesse Lewis (Chester) & Linda Knowles, B.P. (Dick) Knowles.

The family would like to thank the Webb House in McMinnville for their kind & helpful care of their mom, Audrey for the past few years. Also, to Avalon Hospice for the kindness & care shown to her in her last days. The family has a special thank you to Dr. Hugh Don Cripps of Smithville for his tireless medical attention to our mom through the years.

Officiating at the service will be Brother Frank Randolph, pastor of Indian Mound The Baptist Church & Brother Johnny Adcock. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, May 6, 2021 at 11am in the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home with burial to follow at DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be on Wednesday from 4-8pm and again on Thursday from 9am until the service time at 11am.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Indian Mound The Baptist Church in memory of Ms. Audrey. Donations can be made at the funeral home or sent to Joe Hallums, 1307 Fanchers Mill Rd. Sparta, TN 38583.

Bob Rice

May 3, 2021

Mr. Bob Rice, age 88 of Sparta, TN passed away on Monday, May 3, 2021 at his residence.

Bob was born on December 24, 1932 in Putnam County, TN to his parents, the late Dewey and Ola Harness Rice. Also preceding him in death was his son, Bobby Dean Rice; 2 grandchildren, Scott Davis and Josh Davis; 9 siblings, Geraldine Felts, Barbara Goff, Mary Ellen Shackelford, Gene Rice, Bill Rice, Roy Rice, James Rice, Yune Rice, and infant sister, Irene Rice; and special friend, Eddie Herman. Mr. Rice was a member of Johnson Chapel Baptist Church, a retired construction worker, and a honorary and lifetime member of the Johnson Chapel Volunteer Fire Department.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, May 5, at 11am in the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Bro. Elmore Judd and Bro. Jackie Miller will officiate and burial will follow at Peeled Chestnut Cemetery in Sparta. Visitation with the family will be on Tuesday, May 4, from 11am until 8pm and on Wednesday from 9am until the time of services at 11am. Due to Covid-19 precautions, we are not accepting food in the kitchen at this time.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Ruth Rice of Sparta, TN; 3 children, Connie Davis of Sparta, Kenneth (Shawn) Rice of Sparta, and Terry Rice of Sparta; 5 grandchildren, Whitney (Brandon) Cox of Smithville, Daniel (Ashley) Rice of Sparta, Dustin (Marissa) Rice of Sparta, Courtney (Dustin) Estes of Smithville, Conner Rice and fiance Kimberly Hale of Smithville; 11 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Reba Davis of Murfreesboro and Sue Perkins of Baxter; 1 brother, Denver Rice of Madison; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
