Shirley Ann Fisher Tramel

Shirley Ann Fisher Tramel, of Smithville was taken to her heavenly home on April 12, 2021 at the age of 80. Shirley was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Shirley was born on January 7, 1941 in Smithville, TN to her parents, the late Luke and Ovlean Hendrixson Fisher. She was a member of the Smithville Church of God and was retired from Federal Mogul as a Machine Operator.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 2 Children, Lee Alton and Deberalyn Reeder; 1 Grandson, Wesley Reeder; 2 Brothers, Luther Wayne Fisher and David Fisher; 2 Sisters, Maggie Crim and Linda Cantrell.

Shirley is survived by her husband, Paul Tramel of Smithville; 3 children, Marl Ann and Jim Reynolds of Smithville, Peggy and Phillip Hendrix of Smithville; Joe Reeder and Andrew Altieri of Old Hickory; 5 grandchildren, Christopher and Jeri Reeder of Washington, Christie and Steve Hess of Lebanon, Latasha and Chris Colwell of Smithville, Ross Hendrix of Smithville, and Tyler Reynolds of Lebanon; 8 great-grandchildren, Parker Wilson, Eli Colwell, Landon Hendrix, Emily Colwell, Bentlee Colwell, Owen Reeder, Audrey Reeder, and Benton Reeder; 1 brother, Walter Ray Fisher of McMinnville; 1 sister, Barbara Grissom of Rock Island.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at 1pm at the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Bro. Chris Moore will officiate with burial following at Whorton Springs Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be on Tuesday from 12Noon until 7pm and on Wednesday from 11am until the service time at 1pm. We are not accepting food in the funeral home kitchen at this time.

April 10, 2021

Jesse Paul Martin, infant son of his parents, Tommy & Priscilla Dyer Martin of Woodbury, TN was born & died on April 6, 2021 at Erlanger Medical Center.

Graveside services will be held on Sunday, April 11, 2021 at 2pm at Gunter-Grizzle Cemetery. Bro. Greg Mitchell will officiate. There will be no visitation held at the funeral home. Family and friends will gather at the cemetery just prior to the time of services at 2pm.

He was preceded in death an Uncle, Paul Martin & a Cousin, Paislee Cripps.

In addition to his parents he is survived by a Brother, Zach Martin of Woodbury, TN. Maternal Grandparents, Larry & Shirley Dyer of Smithville, TN. Paternal Grandparents, Larie & Carol Zellman of Smithville, TN. Aunt & Uncle, Jessica & Tyler Cripps of Alexandria, TN. Cousins, Josee & Tucker Cripps both of Alexandria, TN. Several Aunts, Uncles & Cousins also survive.

Cassie Len Maxwell, age 18 of Alexandria, TN, passed away on Monday, April 5, 2021.

Cassie was born November 30, 2002. She was a Senior at Dekalb County High School. Cassie worked at Taco Bell in Lebanon, TN.

Funeral Services for Cassie are scheduled to be conducted from Avant Funeral Home on Friday, April 9, 2021 at 1PM.

Visitation with the family will be at Avant Funeral Home on Friday from 11AM until 1PM.

Jimmy Astrell Arnold, age 86, passed away Monday, April 5, 2021 at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital.

Mr. Arnold was born on November 4, 1934 in Smithville, TN to his parents, the late Troy & Eunie Pearl Williams Arnold. He was a farmer and attended the Church of God 7th Day.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his Wife- Mildred Arnold, 1 son- Jimmy Dean Arnold, 2 Brothers- Vestrell & Kenneth Arnold and Sister- Dora Lawson.

Survivors include 2 sons- Charles & Darlene Arnold and Ricky & Anita Arnold, 1 Granddaughter- Molly & Devin Merriman, 2 Great-Grandchildren- Reagan Grace Merriman and Carter Lane Merriman, 1 step great-grandson- Colton Merriman, 1 sister- Joan & George Hamilton all of Smithville, sister-in-law- Marie Sneed of Florida, Several nieces, nephews and friends also survive.

Visitation with the family will be Friday, April 9, 2021 from 10am until the time of services at 2pm from the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Bro. Dennis Clark will officiate and burial will follow in Banks Cemetery. We are not accepting food in our kitchen facility at this time.

Linda Ray Cook age 75, of Alexandria, passed away Saturday April 3,2021 at NHC Healthcare of Smithville. She was born April 28, 1945 to her parents, the late George and Gladys Chism Ray. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Puggy Cook; great-grandchild, Dylan Harwell; and brother, Roy Ray. Ms. Linda was a member of Upper Helton Baptist Church, co-owned and worked for 18 years with her husband at Puggy’s Carpet Store, and was a factory worker. She is survived by her children, Melinda (Mark) Miller of Smithville, Tina (Matt) Gipson of Alexandria, and Ernie (Kristin) Cook of Alexandria; grandchildren, Jamie (Holly) Anderson, Josh (Melissa) Miller, Jaya (Jerry) Harwell, Shannon (Jessica) Anderson, Tosha (Tommy) Maynard, Makayla Cook; 15 great-grandchildren; brother Ernest (Elene) Ray of Adams, TN; brother-in-law, Joe (Brenda) Cook of Watertown; sisters-in-law, Patsy Ray of Smithville, Dorothy George of Alexandria, Pam Young of Smithville, Lisa Rhody of Smithville. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Wednesday April 7, 2021 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Jimmy Arms and Bro. David Revelle officiating and burial to follow in DeKalb Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday 12:00 noon till 7:00PM and on Wednesday 10:AM until the time of the service at 2:00PM. Due to COVID-19 and social distancing guidelines, we ask for the health and safety of everyone that you please exercise social distancing. The pews in the chapel are marked off to respect these guidelines and allow 100-125 people for the service. The funeral home lounge is closed at this time and NO food or drinks are allowed in the funeral home. In addition to flowers the family asked donations be made to Lighthouse Christian Camp in memory of Ms. Linda. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Martha Ann Nixon Puckett, age 81, passed away peacefully at home early on Good Friday, April 2, 2021, after a five-year struggle with dementia and additional recent complications from Parkinson’s disease. Ann was born on April 17, 1939, at her parents’ home in the Snow Hill Community of DeKalb County, a community in which she lived her entire life. She was known by many as Mrs. Puckett, the school teacher, and Miss Ann, the preschool Sunday School teacher and Girl Scout Leader.

Ann was a lifelong teacher, having started her professional teaching career at twenty years old at Laurel Hill in Lancaster, Tennessee, which was a one-room schoolhouse and where she taught students in all grades from primary to high school. Next, she and her husband, Hearon, moved to Bedford, Indiana, where they both taught at different local high schools for three years. When they moved back to Tennessee, Ann began teaching business and office education at DeKalb County High School, a job which she dearly loved.

After a 13-year break from teaching when her own children were young, Ann returned in 1983 as a Fifth Grade Science teacher at DeKalb Middle School, and continued teaching at DMS and later Northside Elementary until her retirement in 2002. During her science teaching years, Ann was well-known for her hands-on approach to learning and her classroom rabbits, baby chicks, hissing cockroaches and other critters. Ann also taught preschool Sunday School and Vacation Bible School at Indian Creek Baptist Church for over fifty years, a position that brought her great joy.

Ann became a passionate Girl Scout Leader and impacted the lives of many DeKalb County girls beginning when her daughter, Tecia, was in 2nd grade, and continuing until her younger daughter, Mary Ann, graduated high school. Ann especially loved directing the Jolly Jungle Day Camp every Summer, singing camp songs, and leading the friendship circle around the flag pole.

Ann was a 1956 graduate of DeKalb County High School, a 1959 graduate of Tennessee Tech University and later obtained a Master’s Degree in Business Education from the University of Tennessee.

Ann loved animals, nature, and cooking. She enjoyed gardening and preserving her harvest and also was an avid collector of recipes. She loved music and playing the piano, ukulele and autoharp, especially with her preschool Sunday School class.

Ann was an encourager, who always saw the good and the potential in everyone and everything. She loved nothing better than spending time with her family. She was a devoted wife, daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, teacher, and friend, who will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

Ann is survived by her sister, Sue N. Puckett-Jernigan of Dowelltown; daughters, Tecia Lou Puckett Pryor and Mary Ann Puckett of Smithville; sons-in-law, John Pryor and Bill Harpole; grandchildren, Harrison Puckett Pryor, Tess Annabel Barton, Ben Jackson Barton and Camille Kate Barton; nephew, Jason Paul Puckett; former son-in-law, Jack Barton; and a loving team of in-home caregivers. Ann was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Richard Hearon Puckett; her parents, William Hubert Nixon and Winnie Pearl Turner Nixon, and infant daughter, Kecia Ann Puckett.

Visitation will be on Monday, April 5, 2021, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Love-Cantrell Funeral Home, and Tuesday, April 6, 2021, from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m. at Indian Creek Baptist Church on Hurricane Ridge Road. Ann’s Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, April 6, 2021, at 2pm at Indian Creek Baptist Church, with burial to follow at DeKalb Memorial Gardens, all in Smithville, Tennessee.

Food will not be accepted in the funeral home kitchen at this time. We appreciate your understanding during this time of transition.

Donations in memory may be made to Indian Creek Baptist Church, Gideons International, DeKalb Animal Coalition, or to the charity of your choice in memory of Ms. Ann.
