James Lewis “Jimmy” Todd

James Lewis “Jimmy” Todd age 74 of Smithville passed away Monday morning, February 1, 2021 at AHC Cumberland in Nashville. He was born February 4, 1946 to his parents, the late Lewis James and Dounie Roberts Todd. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Demetria Todd. Jimmy was a U.S. Army Veteran having served in Vietnam. He is survived by his wife, Donna Todd of Smithville; 2 daughters, Amy (Rigo) Ruiz of Smyrna and Brandy Todd of Smyrna; 1 grandson, Cody Crutcher. The family has honored his request to be cremated and no services are planned. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donation be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, in memory of Jimmy. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Susan F. Westbrooks, age 68 slipped away like a whisper in the night on January 30, 2021 at 1:30am in her Sparta, Tennessee home while hand held by her husband of forty-eight years and surrounded by her children. Susan’s strong & courageous battle lasted up until her last breath as her body gave out way before her will did. Susan endured a seven-month challenging journey at Moffit Cancer Center in Tampa, FL where she so valiantly beat Leukemia in November, however sadly by December the fate of a new challenging disease at warp speed would send her into a devastating course. She was told just four days before she left earth that there was nothing more that could be done to change the outcome and she simply responded, “Now I’m not giving up ya’ll, but I’m just so tired and I just want to go home. I love you all, please take me home.” A wish fulfilled within 24 hours as she was flown back to her “happy place”, her Sparta, Tennessee home to be surrounded by her husband, children, grandchildren and twin sister.

Susan’s life might have come to an end but her story will forever go on with all the unforgettable moments she blessed us with that will be treasured for the rest of our lifetime. Her fun-loving vivacious personality, infectious smile and laughter made us all better people. Susan loved Center Hill Lake from boating to the simplicity of a campfire lakeside where she always took more than enough pictures of the sunset but would attest no justice to how beautiful it really was in the moment. She loved traveling, camping, festivals, classic cars and joy riding on the back of her hubby’s motorcycle. Halloween was her most favorite holiday and anyone that knew her always anticipated the next year’s reveal. She would spend months planning décor, party plans and of course her incredible costumes with great anticipation. Her creativity was always impressive and the events unforgettable as she was always the “life of the party,” outdancing anyone in the room.

She is survived by the “love of her life” and husband of forty-eight years, Jerry Westbrooks, 72. A couple that shared an incredible adventure in life from start to end of every chapter, they were truly the best of friends enjoying everything together. Spending most of their married life in the sunshine of Florida while raising children and enjoying the motorcycle subculture, they slowed down in 2013 with retirement and finally made their “Lake House” in Tennessee their forever home. They spent their time in absolutely no hurry while enjoying the good life with family & friends. Susan and Jerry were undoubtedly very much in love and they never held back showing one another affection while constantly flirting with one another. Those two were a true example of how beautiful being with your soul mate was.

This beautiful Mom is survived by the characters she created in her own story; her daughter Kelly Poblick-Su 46, son James Westbrooks 42 and daughter Wendy Westbrooks 42. She was a one-of-a-kind fun-loving Mom and best friend that many envied. She always let her kids off easy even when they didn’t deserve it. The ‘Cool Mom’ that rolled up in parent pick up blasting music, threw parties and even accompanied her children on many wild teenage adventures. She was a lover of moments and made sure her children never experienced a dull one. She taught her children love, strength, grace and to always live life to the fullest or it could pass you up.

She was also very proudly a “Mimi”, that’s not your usual run of the mill conventional cookie baking grandparent but a young at heart, fun, hilarious jokester with the very best sense of humor that was pee your pants funny. Every one of her grandchildren has countless stories that always winds up in laughter. She jumped at every opportunity to talk about her grandbabies and show their pictures off, they were all very precious to her. She is survived by her beloved grandbabies; Keelie Poblick 25, Garrett Poblick 21, Cade Ayers 21, Hannah Westbrooks 20, Phoenix Nasse 10, Gunner Su 8 years of age.

The last six years of life Susan had the privilege of having her fraternal twin sister, Kathy Chandler age 68 as her neighbor where they spent years hanging out and making memories that so much of their life had missed due to living in separate states for so many years. They adored having one another only steps away and were referred to as the “Bobbsey Twins” as they were inseparable and came as a package deal. Susan is survived by her twin sister Kathy and her brother Sandy Appling, 70. She is predeceased by her parents Lloyd & Dora Mae Appling.

Beautiful sweet Wife, Mom, Mimi, sister, friend; your book might have come to a close however your story lives on in each and everyone one of us. We love you with all our hearts & miss you immensely.

Mr. David E. Randolph, age 62 of Club Springs, TN, passed away on Monday, February 1, 2021.

Mr. Randolph was born January 8, 1959 in Carthage, TN, a son of the late Samuel Fred Randolph and Hazel Jene Whitefield. He was also preceded in death by infant sister; Mary Ann Randolph and Brother-in-Law; Richard Smith. David was a 1977 graduate of Gordonsville High School. He worked for 5-Bravo Construction and was superintendent for the last 18 years. David was a member of the Macedonia The Baptist Church of Christ at Club Springs and also served as clerk and treasurer.

Mr. Randolph is survived by nine siblings; Jene Smith of Llano, TX, Dene (Bill) Shipp of Brentwood, TN, Frank (Denise) Randolph of Elmwood, TN, Clifford (Glenda) Randolph of Dowelltown, TN, Samuel (Jackie) Randolph of Murfreesboro, TN, Rita Randolph of Hickman, TN, Dianna (Jeff) Winfree of Hiwassee community in Smith County, TN, Lee (Michelle) Randolph of Gordonsville, TN, and Tony Randolph of Hickman, TN. Twenty-three nieces and nephews and twenty-six great nieces and great nephews.

Funeral Services for Mr. Randolph are scheduled to be conducted from the Gordonsville Chapel of Bass Funeral Homes on Friday, February 5, 2021 at 1PM with Bro. Tim Bennett and Bro. Gary McBride officiating. Interment will follow in the Gordonsville Cemetery.

Visitation with the Randolph family will be at the Gordonsville Chapel of Bass Funeral Homes on Thursday from 3PM until 8PM and on Friday after 11AM until service time at 1PM.

The family requests memorials be made to the Macedonia The Baptist Church of Christ at Club Springs.

Mr. Darryl Rowland, age 75, of Smithville passed away on Monday in the ER of Acension St. Thomas DeKalb Hospital.

Mr. Rowland was born February 7, 1945 in Portland, Oregon to his parents, the late Horace Nixon and Marjorie Pirtle Rowland. He was a member of Smithville First Baptist Church and an employee of Edd Rogers Chevrolet Auto Sales for 43 years.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February, 4, 2021 at 3 p.m. at the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home with burial to follow at DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be on Thursday from 1 until the time of service at 3pm. Due to Covid 19 precautions, social distance measures will be observed. We are also not accepting food in the kitchen at this time.

He was preceded in death by his parents as well as one brother, Nixon Rowland.

Mr. Rowland is survived by his wife of 44 years, Martha Thweatt Rowland of Smithville; 3 Daughters: Christie (Brian) Carter of Cookeville, Tonya Stewart (Jason Rogers) of Nashville, and Sonya Rowland of Nashville; 1 Son: Chad Rowland of Castalian Springs; 7 Grandchildren: Jackson Rowland, Emma Grace Carter, Ava Stewart, Chloe Stewart, Payton Carter, Caroline Diania Rowland, and Tryston Rogers; 1 Sister: Serita and Ken Smith of Walling. Ms. Florence Mabel Pack age 96 of Smithville passed away on Saturday at her daughters residence in McMinnville.

Ms. Pack was preceded in death by her parents, Percy and Rebecca Ferguson; husband, John Lee Pack; daughter, Pamela Atnip; son, Willard Pack; great-grandchild, Abigail Pack. She was a member of Mt. Herman Baptist Church, loved to crochet and knit, read, and to flower garden. She met her husband while he was stationed in Australia during WWII. They married and later she was able to cross the the Pacific to the United States on a ship called the Mariposa with hundreds of other Australians (War Brides) who married US service men. She was accompanied by her daughter on the ship who was just a small child.

She is survived by her daughter, Valerie (John) Mears of McMinnville and son, Robin (Deborah) Pack of Smithville; 11 Grandchildren; 13 Great-grandchildren; 3 great great-grandchildren; Brother: Ted Ferguson of Australia; Sister: Elise Ferguson of Australia; Several half-brothers and half-sisters of Australia

Visitation with the family will be on Wednesday from noon until the time of services at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home with Johnathon Willoughby officiating. Burial will follow in Keith Cemetery.

62 year old Thomas Freeland “Tommy” Gibbs of Alexandria died Sunday at St. Thomas Midtown in Nashville. He was a truck driver and member of the Upper Helton Baptist Church.

There is no one who loved life more. Tommy was a devoted husband, father, and friend, but he loved being a grandfather the most. He loved to sing, do imitations, and give anyone and everyone a hard time. He was truly a character and enjoyed life to the fullest. He will be greatly missed.

The funeral will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Upper Helton Baptist Church. Jimmy Arms will officiate and burial will be in Hillview Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2-8 p.m. and Wednesday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the Upper Helton Baptist Church. The funeral service and all visitation will be held at the church. He was preceded in death by his father, Freeland Gibbs. Survivors include his wife of 20 years Sherrie Gibbs of Alexandria. Children, Monica and Hunter Hendrixson of Smithville, Megan and Josh Lamberson of Watertown, Christi and David Cunningham of Old Hickory, and Jennifer Barlog and Travis Dodd of McMinnville. Grandchildren, Ella Hendrixson and Max Hendrixson, Chase Lamberson, and Jessie and Jordan Barlog. Great grandchild, Peyton Conner. Mother, Ruby Gibbs of Alexandria. Sisters, Sandra Fowler of Alexandria, Anita and Robert Higgins of Alexandria, and Lisa and Clark Oakley of Lebanon. Sister-in-law, Linda Ray and several nieces and nephews.
