Helen Parker Lockhart Trusty

Helen Parker Lockhart Trusty, age 96 of Smithville, passed away at the Veterans Home in Murfreesboro on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. She was a member of Fairview Baptist Church. Helen was a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved her grandchildren immensely.

She was born on August 28, 1927 in Smithville, TN to her parents, the late John and Zona Lockhart. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Hobert Trusty; 4 brothers, Clarence Lockhart, Houston Lockhart, Jewel Lockhart, and Charlie Lockhart; and 1 sister, Olene Lockhart.

Visitation with the Trusty family will be on Friday from 10:00 am until the service at 1:00 pm in the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Bro. Nathan Thomason will officiate with burial to follow in DeKalb Memorial Gardens.

Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Fred and Peggy Trusty of Smithville; 2 grandsons, David (Trina) Trusty, and Michael (Amanda) Trusty all of Smithville; 4 great grandchildren, Kaitlyn Trusty and Davin Trusty both of Watertown, Kylee Trusty, and Emily Trusty of Smithville; several nieces and nephews.

Randall R. Stanley

Randall R. Stanley age 59 of Smithville, passed away Friday night, May 17, 2024 at Summit Medical Center. He was born July 24, 1964 to his parents, the late Hiram and Ruth Ervin Stanley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 brother, Rickey and Ronald Stanley. He was a Christian, worked as a Smithville Police Officer for over 20 years, Texas Boot and was a handyman. Randall was a guy that loved helping people. He is survived by 2 brother, Eddie (Lou Ella) Stanley and Michael (Mandy) Stanley both of Smithville; beloved cousin, Valerie (Chris) Pyles of Smithville; cousins, Genesis Pyles and Chevelle Lockwood; son, Ross Stanley of Smithville and daughter, Kayla Reagan of Lebanon and many family members and friends. Funeral services will be 2 PM Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Jeremy Poole officiating and burial will follow in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Tuesday 11:AM until the time of the service at 2 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to DeKalb Funeral Chapel to help with funeral expenses. Nina Ruth Puckett

Nina Ruth Puckett passed away in her home at the age of 91 on Sunday, May 12th, 2024. She passed peacefully on Mother’s Day surrounded by family and gospel music.

Nina was born in Smithville, TN on June 18th, 1932 to Will and Ella Turner. She grew up on the family farm with her 8 brothers, Aubrey, Wilson, Morris, Johnny, Donald, David, Kenneth, and Sam, and one sister, Arrieta Sue. Nina attended Jacobs Pillar Church, Oak Grove Elementary School, and DeKalb County High School. Nina married Bobby Lee Puckett in 1955 who was a dear partner of 59 years and the love of her life. They moved to Lebanon, TN in 1969 and raised 2 children, Donna Gail (Ron Casamer) and Dudley Lee. Nina was a devout Christian, living by faith and leading by example. She was a member of Westland United Methodist Church and taught Mother’s Day Out at First United Methodist and First Baptist Church for many years. She also served as a Wilson County Election Official. Nina was a cherished “Granny”, with 4 granddaughters, Valaree (Jay O’Connor), Victoria (Noah Barratt), Eliza Lee and Nina Marie. She has 4 great-grandchildren, Sparrow, Wiley, Violet and Nora, and one on the way, baby boy O’Connor. She was a remarkably nurturing and generous spirit who was deeply cherished and fiercely loved by her family. She will be remembered for her steadfast presence, generous heart, sweet humor, sassy spirit and amazing home cooking. A remarkable woman: always remembered, and forever our angel.

The family will receive visitors at Love-Cantrell Funeral home on Tuesday, May 14th from 10am to 1pm. The funeral service will be held at 1pm with Bro. Ric Lee officiating and a graveside ceremony will follow at Whorton Springs Cemetery.

In honor of Nina, donations may be made towards advancing a cure for dementia through the Alzheimer’s Association.

Phillip C. Atnip

Phillip C. Atnip age 73, of Smithville, passed away Tuesday night May 7, 2024 at NHC Healthcare of Smithville after a short illness. He was born August 30, 1950, to his parents the late T. C. and Virginia Hicks Atnip. Mr. Atnip was of the Baptist Faith and worked at Carrier Corporation. He is survived by sisters, Maxine (Kenneth) Pritchett of Old Hickory, Wanda Parker of Smithville, and Debbie (Robert) Driver of McMinnville; nieces and nephews, Rhonda Pritchett, David (Andrea) Prichett, Layra Parker, Ashley (Ryan) Black, Lindsey (Grayson) Mayfield, Ryan Pritchett, Eli Crook, Connor Black and McKenna Black; God son, Cody Pack and special friends Jimbo Pack and Brian Pack. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Friday, May 10, 2024, with Bro. Michael Hale officiating and burial to follow in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held Friday 11:00 AM until the time of the service at 2:00 PM. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is honored to care for the Atnip family.




Linda Gayle Hill

Mrs. Linda Gayle Hill, age 83 of Smithville, passed away Friday evening at her residence. She was a graduate of the University of TN in Knoxville and worked as a dental hygienist for 46 years. She was of the Church of Christ faith.

She was born on August 26, 1940 in Beersheba Springs, TN. She was preceded in death by her parents; Richard and Thelma Rollins Hill, son; Bernie Sullivan, daughter; Donna Cope and Husband; Willie Joe Attinkson.

Visitation with the Hill family will be on Tuesday from 10:00 am until the service at 1:00 pm in the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Bro. Buzzy Neal will officiate and burial will follow in Shiloh Cemetery.

Survivors include 4 grandchildren; Ryan (Jennifer) Sullivan, Clint (LaKota) Cope, Matthew Sullivan all of Smithville and John (Emily) Caldwell of Va, 1 brother; Raymond Hill of Smithville, special sister; Shirley Hyder of McMinnville and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive.

Nellie Jones

Nellie Jones age 90, of McMinnville passed away Sunday May 5, 2024, at N H C of McMinnville. She was born November 4, 1933, to her parents the late Johnny and Mary Young Waggoner. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepmother, Beatrice Waggoner; sisters, Mozel Martin, Maureen Hickman, and Rebecca Hickman; brothers, Joe Waggoner, Truman Waggoner, and Grady Waggoner; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Jones was affiliated with New Life Pentacostal Church in Smithville and worked at the Shirt Factory. She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Winston Jones of McMinnville; sister, Suzie White of Smithville; children, W. D. (Gayle) Jones of McMinnville, Kathy (Joe) Driver of Smithville, Aline Jones of McMinnville, Wanda (Jimmy) Dunn of McMinnville, and Candy (Rocky) Simmons of McMinnville; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Wednesday May 8, 2024, at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Michael Hale officiating and burial to follow in Jones Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held Tuesday May 7, 2024, 3 PM till 7 PM and on Wednesday May 8, 2024, 10:AM till the time of the service at 2 PM.
