Mark Anthony Graham

Mark Anthony Graham age 50 of Smithville, passed away Monday night, September 7, 2020 at St. Thomas DeKalb Hospital ER from injuries received in a motorcycle accident. He was born November 17, 1969 to his parents, Barbara Gora Graham and the late James Garey Graham. He was a Christian and worked for several years for Pirtle Nursery. Mark is survived by 2 children, Kaylee Braswell and Lillian Graham both of Smithville; mother, Barbara Gora Graham Carter of Irwin, PA; 3 siblings, Michael Graham of Collinsville, MS, Melissa Geuy of Urbana, OH, and Michelle (Chuck) Rihn of Irwin, PA; fiance, Candice Daniels of Smithville; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins also survive. The family has chosen a direct cremation and a Memorial Service will be 1 PM Thursday, September 10, 2020 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Michael Hale officiating. Visitation will be Thursday 12 Noon until the time of the service at 1 PM. In addition to flowers, the family asks that donations be made to DeKalb Animal Coalition. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.




Edgar Royce Evans

September 6, 2020

Edgar Royce Evans age 75 of the Temperance Hall Community, passed away Saturday September 5, 2020 at his residence. He was born January 3, 1945 to his parents the late H. H. “Buster” and Alta Mae Caplinger Evans. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Martha Caroline Evans; brother, Hayden (MA Boyce) Evans. Mr. Evans enjoyed traveling and working the family farm. He was a farmer and retired from Bonnell after 36 years and member of New Middleton United Methodist Church. Mr. Evans is survived by his wife of 52 years, Joe Ann Frazier Evans of Temperance Hall; son, Gordon (Jen) Evans of Temperance Hall; daughter, Rachel (Greg) Ellis of Smithville; 5 grandkids, James and Kevin Evans of Temperance Hall, Logan, Katie, and Landon Ellis all of Smithville; step-grandson, Dakota Castle; step-granddaughter, Amanda Pickett; 1 niece and 2 nephews and several great nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be 1PM Wednesday September 9, 2020 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Royce Martin officiating and burial to follow in Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday September 8, 2020 4PM till 7PM and Wednesday 10:AM until the time of the service at 1PM. Due to the COVID-19, the Governors Executive Orders 38 and 51 and Social Distancing Guidelines; Our pews in the Chapel are marked off to respect the guidelines and allow approximately 100-125 people for the service, we ask for the health and safety of everyone that you please exercise Social Distancing. The Funeral Home Lounge is Closed and NO Food or Drinks are allowed in the funeral home at this time. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.




Wilma Lucille Garrison

Wilma Lucille Garrison of Alexandria, age 88 passed away Friday night September 4, 2020 at NHC of Smithville. She was born July 21, 1932 to her parents the late William Delton and Ruth Hunt Vanatta. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by husband, Hoyte Garrison; a son, William Timothy Garrison; sisters, Lois Gregory, Lera Walden; brothers, William “Buddy” Vanatta, and Ray Donald Vanatta. Ms. Lucille worked for many years at Alexandria shirt factory, and she was a member of Salem Baptist Church. She is survived by son, Ronnie (Lisa) Garrison of Smithville; granddaughters, Rachel (Josh) Arnold of Smithville, Jessica (Ethan) Hale of Alexandria; great-grandchildren, Lucas River Garrison, Lucy Rayne Arnold, and John William Hale; sister, Brenda (David) Denney of Lebanon; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be Monday September 7, 2020 at 2 PM at the Smithville Church of God with Bro. Chris Moore and Bro. Graden Kirksey officiating and burial will follow in Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM and on Monday 11:00 AM until the time of the service at 2:00 PM at the Smithville Church of God. Due to the COVID-19, the Governors Executive Orders 38 and 51 and Social Distancing Guidelines, we ask for the health and safety of everyone that you please exercise Social Distancing. Peggy Joyce Young

Mrs. Peggy Joyce Young age 88 of McMinnville, TN, died Thursday September 03, 2020 at Traditions of Spring Hill. She was born on September 19, 1931, in Smithville, TN, retired from Century/Magnetek after 30+ years of employment. Peggy loved to cook, enjoyed hosting a weekly family night for over 30 years, and was a member of Madison Street Baptist Church. Mrs. Young was preceded in death by her parents Lemuel Pinkney and Cora Lee Bond Medley, husband William Jack Young, and siblings Bernice G. Curtis, Eve L. Hickman, Roxie M. Foutch, Jack L. Medley, Bailey R. Medley, and Nelda Lee Medley.

She is survived by her sons Tim Young and Mark Young, daughter Jackie Kay (John) Dodson, grandchildren Tyler Young, Tegan (Cory) Bettis, Keeley (Bryce) Hitchcock, Natalie (David) Sanderson, and Weston Vaughn, and great grandchildren Baylor Hitchcock, Kyndal Hitchcock, Kimber Hitchcock, Danny Sanderson, and Drew Sanderson. Several nieces, nephews, and family friends also survive.

The family sends a special thank you to Kindred Hospice and Traditions of Spring Hill for their care and compassion.

A graveside service and interment will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, September 06, 2020 at DeKalb Memorial Gardens Cemetery of Smithville, TN. Dan Stirnemann and Harlen Simmons will officiate. The family and friends will meet at the cemetery and there will be no visitation at the funeral home.

Edna Ruth Hendrixson Colwell

September 2, 2020

Edna Ruth Hendrixson Colwell age 82 passed away Wednesday morning, Septmeber 2, 2020 at her daughters residence. She was born August 17, 1938 to her parents the late William Wiley and Connie Elvie Gibbs Hendrixson. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by husband, James Colwell; sister, Pauline Poss Cantrell; 3 brothers, Bill, Joe and Jack Hendrixson. Ms. Ruth worked at the shirt factory for 15 years and at Kingston Timers for 33 years and she was a member of Gospel Lighthouse Baptist Church and attended Covenant Baptist Church. She is survived by 2 children, David (Sue) Colwell of Dowelltown, and Diane (Terry) Hendrixson of Silver Point; 5 grandchildren, Angie Colwell (Scott) Campbell of Smithville, Suzanne (Jon) Harrison of Smithville, Tabitha Colwell(Tyler) Prohaska of Knoxville, Josh (Janda) Hendrixson of Smithville, Daniel Hendrixson (Natalie Martin) of Silver Point; 9 great-grandchildren, Trey Fuson, Ashton Campbell, Peyton Campbell, Alex Campbell, Peyton Young, Morgan (Jeremy) Taylor, Olive Prohaska-Colwell, Otto Prohaska-Colwell, Mackenzie Faith Hendrixson; 2 sisters-in-law, Gerry Hendrixson of Gallatin, Ellen Colwell of Dowelltown; several nieces and nephews also survive; special care givers, Beth Pedigo, Melba Vinson, Barbara Conaster, Tammy Pack, and Tiffany Huggins. Funeral services will be 2 PM Saturday September 5, 2020 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Royce Martin and Bro. Michael Hale officiating with burial to follow in Snow Hill Baptist Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday September 4, 2020 4 PM until 7 PM and on Saturday 11:AM until the time of the service at 2 PM. Dorothy Jean “Dot” Webb

Mrs. Dorothy Jean “Dot” Webb age 88 of Smithville, TN, died Saturday August 29, 2020 at her residence. She was born on May 21, 1932, in Smithville, TN, she was previously employed with Kingston Timers, and was of the Methodist faith. Mrs. Webb was preceded in death by her parents Monroe and Emma Cantrell Redmon, her brothers Clyde (Thelma) Redmon and Foster Redmon, and sister Mavaneen (Gene) Russell.

She is survived by her husband of 20 years Sanders Webb, her sister-in-law, Edith Nell Redmon, and several nieces, nephews, family members, and friends.

A graveside service and interment will be held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 02, 2020 at Mt. View Cemetery. Elder Ricky Arnold will officiate. The family and friends will meet at the cemetery and there will be no visitation at the funeral home.
