William Dunn

William Dunn age 84 of Smithville and long-time resident of Lebanon, passed away Friday, July 31, 2020 at his residence. He was born July 17, 1936 to his parents the late, Howard and Daliah Johnson Dunn. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Euola Dunn; sisters, Frances Winfree, and Inez Warden; brother, Edwin Dunn. William served in the United States Army, was retired from Texas Boot where he was a supervisor and did carpenter work after retirement. He is survived by his daughter, Star (Benny) Frederick of Smithville; grandson, Thomas Wayne Frederick of Watertown; great-grandchildren , Alexis Hope Frederick of Smithville, Freya Frederick of Watertown and Remington Frederick of Lebanon; sister, Juanita (Everett) Carrick of Hendersonville; several nieces and nephews also survive. Graveside services and interment will be 2 PM Monday August 3, 2020 at Jefferson Cemetery with Bro, Michael Hale officiating. Visitation will be Monday August 3, 2020 at 12:noon until 1:30 PM at which time we will leave to go to the cemetery for the graveside service. Due to the COVID-19, the Governors Executive Orders 38 and 51 and Social Distancing Guidelines; we ask for the health and safety of everyone that you please exercise Social Distancing. The Funeral Home Lounge is Closed and NO Food or Drinks are allowed in the Funeral Home at this time. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.




William Gerald Malone

August 1, 2020

Mr. William Gerald Malone, age 72 of the Dale Ridge Community of Liberty, passed away Saturday morning, August 1, 2020 at his home.

Gerald was born on April 21, 1948 in Liberty, TN to his parents, the late Clyde & Pauline Foster Malone. He was a retired Baptist Preacher, worked as a Mechanic and had also worked at Gilletts Grocery. Gerald was a member of Covenant Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 3, 2020 at 2pm from the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Bro. Bobby Thomason & Bro. Tommy Davis will officiate and burial will follow at Hillview Memorial Cemetery in Alexandria with Bro. Thomas Hale officiating at the graveside service. Visitation with the family will be on Sunday, from 4pm-8pm & on Monday, from 11am until the service time at 2pm. Due to Covid-19 precautions, social distance measures will be observed. We are temporarily not accepting food in our kitchen facilities.

Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Rita Laws Malone of Liberty. 2 Daughters, Susan (Danny) VanDyne of Liberty & Charlotte Malone of Sparta. Son, Dale Pack of Algood. 6 Grandchildren, Brian Pack & Bradley Pack both of Dowelltown, Cody Pack of Smithville, Kirstyn Pack Vanatta of Smithville, Hannah VanDyne & Danny VanDyne both of Liberty. Great Grandchild, Addie Pack of Dowelltown. Brother, Carl (Brenda) Malone of Dowelltown Niece, Cynthia (Ceylon) Taylor of Dowelltown. The family would like to send a special thanks to Caris Hospice as well.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the funeral home to help with burial expenses.

Carlon Lee Miller

July 29, 2020

Mr. Carlon Lee Miller, age 72 of Smithville, passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at St Thomas DeKalb Hospital.

Carlon was born April 21, 1948 in Lebanon, TN to his parents, the late Lee Homer & Dorothy Ione Sandlin Miller. Also preceding him in death was his brother, Billy Miller and a niece, Christie Miller. He was retired from the Tennessee Department of Transportation with 22 years of service and was of the Baptist faith.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 31, 2020 at 3pm from the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Bro. Nathan Thomason & Bro. Jason Miller will officiate with burial to follow at Bethel Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held on Thursday from 2pm-8pm & Friday from 11am until the service time at 3pm. Due to Covid-19 precautions, social distance measures will be observed. We are temporarily not accepting food in our kitchen facilities.

David George Hacker

July 28, 2020

David George Hacker age 81, of Smithville passed away at his residence on Monday, July 27, 2020. He was born October 13, 1938 to his parents, the late August Henry and Mable Sweeney Hacker. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Reed Hacker; sister, Nancy Bartlett; brother, August Hacker, Jr. Mr. Hacker was retired from the United States Post Office, was United States Air Force Veteran with 20 years of service, Boy Scout Leader in Ohio, Michigan and Arizona, and a member of the First Assembly of God Church. He was a Loving and Teasing Dad, Grandpa, and Great-Grandpa. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Virgie Hacker of Smithville; daughter, Vanessa (Mike) Wolverton of Smithville; sons, David (Kathy) Hacker, II of South Carolina; and Bruce (Sherry) Hacker of Michigan; grandchildren, Kevin Wolverton, Laura (Matt) Welch, Tony Hacker, Ashley N, and Alex Hacker, Bruce Hacker, and Ashley Crystal; 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Ruth Petrushak of Michigan; several nieces and nephews also survive; special niece, Monica Beckius; sister-in-law, Louella. The family has honored Mr. Hacker’s request to be cremated and due to COVID 19, the family has decided not to have any services. In lieu of flowers the family has asked donations be made to the First Assembly Of God Church. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” the nurses at SunCrest Home Health and St. Thomas DeKalb Hospital for their care during Mr. Hacker’s illness. Lawrence Richard Daw

Mr. Lawrence Richard Daw, age 80 of Smithville, passed away Monday night, July 27, 2020 at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro.

Mr. Daw was born on June 25, 1940 in Brooklyn, New York to his parents, the late William & Ethel Davis Daw. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his 1st wife & mother of his children, Esther Daw. 2nd Wife, Marion Daw. Parents, William & Ethel Davis Daw. 2 Brothers, Arthur Daw & Billy Daw. 3 Sisters, Francis Faljean, Dorothy Daw & Marie Ponds. He was a self employed carpenter and was of the Baptist faith.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2020 at 11am from the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Bro. David Mahan & Bro. Graden Kirksey will officiate with burial to follow at DeKalb Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be on Wednesday, from 2-8pm & on Thursday, from 9am until the time of services at 11am. Due to Covid-19 precautions, social distance measures will be observed. We are temporarily not accepting food in our kitchen facilities.

Survivors include a Daughter, Noel (William Jr.) Dowling of Smithville. Son, Artie (Regena) Daw of Smithville. 2 Grandsons, William Dowling, III & Nickolas Daw both of Smithville. 2 Sisters, Margaret Wells & Rosalind Schroeder both of New York. 2 Brothers, James (Daria) Daw of Smyrna & George (Rita) Daw of New York. Several Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, Great Nieces & Great Nephews also survive.

In addition to flowers, donations can be made to the Refuge Church building fund in memory of Mr. Daw.

Charles David Tims

July 24, 2020

Charles David Tims age 88 of Cookeville, TN passed away Friday morning, July 24, 2020 at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Tims was born on January 26, 1932 to his parents, the late Raymond & Louise Tims. Also preceding him in death was a son, Timothy Tims & a brother, Leonard Tims. He was retired from General Motors and served his country in the United States Air Force.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, July 26, 2020 at 2pm from the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Erik Reed will officiate with burial to follow at DeKalb Memorial Gardens with Military Honors provided by the Veterans Honor Guard. Visitation with the family will be on Sunday, July 26th from 11am until the time of services at 2pm. We are temporarily not accepting food in our kitchen facilities.

Survivors include his Wife, Sally Reeder Tims of Cookeville, TN. 5 Children, Kay Anglemier of Michigan, Kyle (William) Huddleston of Knoxville, TN, Machelle (Bebo) Cunningham of Lebanon, TN, Annette (Todd) Johnson of Alexandria, TN & Donald (Rosie) Arnold of Smithville, TN. 12 Grandchildren, Lonnie Earl, Amanda, Shawn, Dustin, Briana, Shawnnie, Tyler, Kurtis, Clint, Timmy, Tyler & Lexi. 16 Great Grandchildren. Brother, Phil Tims of Michigan.
