Calvin J. Sifford

Calvin J. Sifford age 63 of McMinnville and a longtime resident of Douglasville, GA, passed away peacefully, Thursday afternoon July 9, 2020 at his home. He was born July 20, 1956 in Bristol, TN to his parents, the late Bro. Carl Lynn and Frances Carolyn Hester Sifford. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 1 brother, Steven “Pete” Sifford; sister-in-law, Sue Sifford and cousin, Johnny Wycuff. Calvin was an Insurance Underwriter and affiliated with Calvary Church of God in Douglasville, GA and New Life UPC in Smithville. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 41 years, June Sifford of McMinnville; 2 daughters, Jeana (Matthew) Lowe of Temple, GA and Tracey (Chad) Russell of Apollo Beach, FL; 7 grandchildren, Kirsten Stone, Grant Stone, Jeremiah Lowe, Carter Russell, Bryce Russell, Lexi Lowe and Brystol Russell; 2 brothers, Carl Sifford and Ron (Patsy) Sifford both of Smithville; mother-in-law, Louise Manning of Land O’ Lakes, FL; brother-in-law, Gary (Paula) Manning of Seffner, FL; sister-in-law, Nancy (Jimmy) Stephens of Wesley Chapel, FL; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 11:AM Monday, July 13, 2020 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Dwayne Cornelius officiating. Visitation with the family will be Sunday 2 PM until 5 PM and Monday 9 AM until the time of the service at 11 AM. Due to COVID-19, the Governors Executive Orders 38 and 51 and Social Distancing Guidelines; Our pews in the Chapel are marked off to respect the guidelines and allow approximately 100-125 people for the service, we ask for the health and safety of everyone that you please exercise Social Distancing. The Funeral Home Lounge is Closed and NO Food or Drinks allowed in the funeral home. The Funeral Service will be live-streamed on DeKalb Funeral Chapel Facebook page. In addition to flowers, the family asks that donations be made to New Life UPC, in memory of Calvin. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.




Delores Irene Jones

Delores Irene Jones age 86 of Smithville, passed away Thursday, June 11, 2020 at NHC HealthCare Center in Smithville. She was born July 9, 1933 to her parents, the late Everett and Gertrude Doran Allsop. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Richard Jones; son, Charles V. Jones; siblings, Junior Allsop, William Allsop, Joseph Allsop, Ruby Dunaway and Sweed Allsop. Ms. Delores was a homemaker and a member of the Dry Creek Baptist Church. She leaves to cherish her memory 2 children, Richard Reed Jones of Crossville and Janet (Kevin) Felts of Tullahoma; 1 grandson, Trent Jones of Knoxville; 1 great-granddaughter, Nora Jones; 1 sister, Helen Spicer of Prescott Valley, AZ. The family has chosen a direct cremation and Memorial Service will be 12:30 PM Sunday, July 19, 2020 at the Dry Creek Baptist Church with Bro. Donald Owens officiating. William Harold “Bill” Williams

William Harold “Bill” Williams age 75 died Wednesday evening at NHC Healthcare in Smithville. Born March 21, 1945 in Nashville, he was the son of the late Jesse and Allie Moore Williams. He was preceded in death by brothers, J.C. Williams, Edward Lee (Red) Williams and George Kenneth Williams; sisters, Roxie Little, Elsie Gilbert and Etheleen Wills and a stepson, Barry Ford, Jr. Bill was a veteran of the US Army and a skilled carpenter. He is survived by his children, Becky Stroll of Pegram, Johnny Williams and Roxie Martin both of Alexandria, Judy (Brad) Askew of Watertown; stepson, Timothy Ford; mother of his children, Linda Williams of Alexandria; grandchildren, Kayla Watley, Tayler Martin, Madison Askew, Claire Stroll; great grandchildren, Oaklee and Rylee Watley; step-children, Steven and Ryan Ford, Chasity, Autumn, Heather and Amber Ford; brother, Harry Joe Williams of Baxter; sister, Josephine Rhoads of Nashville; nephew, Henry (Courtney) Williams of Illinois; great nephew, Jonah Williams and many other nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 12, 2020 at Hunter Funeral Home in Watertown with Bro. Dusty Desimone officiating. Visitation 2-8 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. till service time. Lawrence Frederick Galten

Lawrence Frederick Galten age 61 of Smithville, passed away Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at his residence. He was born August 27, 1958 in Savannah, GA to his parents, the late Robert Frank and Sherry Ann Galten. Lawrence was a member of Outreach Baptist Church, a U.S. Navy Veteran and a factory worker. He is survived by 2 children, Malia (Scott) Kowitt of Chandler, AZ and Alan (Nicole) Galten of Bellemont, AZ; 3 grandchildren, Sarai Crawford, Cy Durfee and Lucy Galten. The family has honored Mr. Galten’s request to be cremated. A Memorial Service will be held 2 PM Friday July 17, 2020 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Nathan Thomason officiating and inurnment will follow in DeKalb Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 PM until the time of the service at 2 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to DeKalb Animal Coalition, in memory of Lawrence. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.




Timmie D. Adcock

Timmie Davis Adcock age 54 of Smithville, passed away Monday morning July 6, 2020 at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro. Timmie was born December 21, 1965 to his parents, Flora Mai Vaughn Adcock and the late Elmer Davis Adcock. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Walter and Willie Vaughn and Richard and Ruby Adcock; aunt, Nell (Earl) Raymond; uncle, James Vaughn; father and mother-in-law, Reed and Joyce Redmon; sister-in-law, Marlene Redmon; 2 brothers-in-law, James Allen and Glen Redmon. Timmie served as a Director at DeKalb Farmer’s CO-OP, formerly served on DeKalb Soil Conservation and Farm Service Agency, he was a member of the New Union The Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Peggy Adcock of Smithville; mother, Flora Mai Adcock of Smithville; aunt, Marie (Jimmy) Taylor of Smithville; brother-in-law, David (Maria) Redmon of Michigan; 2 nephews, Jr. (Heather) Redmon and Matthew Redmon; cousins, Brian (Kristen) Raymond of Kentucky, Adam (Amy) Raymond of Smithville, Jeremy Taylor (Amanda Griffith) of Smithville, LeVaughnda (Casey) Midgett of Smithville, Brianna and Thomas Raymond, Aniston and Alexis Raymond, Luke, Reed and John Midgett. Funeral services will be 2 PM Thursday, July 9, 2020 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Johnny Adcock officiating and burial will follow in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be on Wednesday 4 PM until 7 PM and Thursday 11AM until the time of the service at 2 PM. John Lawrence Dyess

John Lawrence Dyess age 68 of Liberty, passed away Friday morning, July 3, 2020 at his home. He was born January 2, 1952 to his parents, the late John Lawrence and Kathleen Maddox Dyess, Sr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, John “Casey” Dyess. He was a faithful and active member of the Dowelltown Baptist Church, he managed his family’s orange grove and owned a nursery. John loved nature and fishing and spending time with his friends. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Mary Dyess of Liberty; son, Jason (Jeni) Dyess of LaBelle, FL; daughter, DoriAnn (Cy) Clayton of Savannah, GA; 4 grandchildren, Drew (Lauren) Dyess of Sarasota, FL, Dean, Daxtyn and Donovan Clayton all of Savannah; 2 great-grandchildren, William and Ben Dyess; 2 sisters, Carol Thomas of Five Points, AL and Peggy (Jerry) Hampton of LaBelle, FL. The family has chosen a direct cremation. A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, July 7, 2020 at 6:PM at Dowelltown Baptist Church with Bro. Thomas Hale officiating. His cremains will be buried with his son in LaBelle, FL. Visitation will be Tuesday 4:PM until the time of the service at 6:PM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Dowelltown Baptist Church. Mrs. Marry would like to express her appreciation to their dear friends, church family, Vanderbilt University Medical Center and Avalon Hospice for the love and care shown to her and John during this time.
