Harry Lee Williams

Harry Lee Williams, of Knoxville, passed away at age 74, September 10, 2019 in the room he built with the morning sun shining on his face surrounded by Love from his wife of 51 years, Sherry Williams and children.

Harry was born August 31, 1945 in Oak Ridge. He was a member of Ball Camp Baptist Church. Harry graduated from DeKalb County High School in 1964. He proudly served in the Air Force, TN Air National Guard, TN Army National Guard, and TN State Guard. Harry graduated from Tusculum College. He retired from Y-12 after 33 years of service.

He will be remembered for his giving, curious, and irascible spirit. He was happiest surrounded by family partaking in lively discussions and children running through the house.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Wilma & Robert Williams; brother & sister-in-Law, Robert & Annette Williams; sister, Wanda Williams Highnote; brother-in-Law, Jimmy Redmon;father-in-law and mother-in-Law, Jim Roy & Audrey Frazier.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Jonathan (Antoinette) Williams; Jennifer (Jim) Goodpasture and Jessica Tucker; grandchildren, Jasmine Thibou; Madison Goodpasture, Makenzie Goodpasture; James Fusaro; Elijah Williams; Griffin Tucker; Autumn Tucker; great grandchildren, Emma Lewis, and Alice Seals; brother, Richard (Suzanne) Williams; sister, Pamela Redmon; and many nieces and nephews who he deeply cherished.

The receiving of friends will be held at Ball Camp Baptist Church, on Thursday, September 12, from 5 to 6:45 p.m. followed by a Memorial Service at 7 p.m.

Family and friends will gather at 9 a.m. on Friday, September 13 for graveside services at Oak Ridge Memorial Gardens with full military honors conferred by the U.S. Air Force and the East Tennessee Veteran’s Honor Guard.

Nancy Lee Riley

September 11, 2019

Nancy Lee Riley age 77 of Smithville, passed away Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at her residence. She was born March 25, 1942 to her parents, the late Raymond Earl and Bonnie Bell Wilson Turner. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her step-children, Steven, Fredrick, and Cathy Riley;  sisters, Lou Ella James, and Lou Anna Gibson; brothers, Ernie and Walter Turner and Bobby Cummins. Mrs. Riley was a housewife and a member of the Sympathy Club at General Motors.  She is survived by husband, Martin Riley, Jr., of Smithville; children, Timothy Riley of Smithville, Martin Riley, III. of Cookeville, and Christina Snipes of Smithville; step-children, David Riley of Ind., Debra Beechum of McMinnville, Michael Riley of Ind., Connie Alley of Ind., Patricia Eckels of Sparta, Cheryl Riley of Ind., Daniel Gress of New York; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; sisters Georgia Ann Little of Smithville, and Teresa Toy of Ind.; half brothers, Michael Turner, Johnny Turner and Ricky Turner. There will be a viewing for family and friends Friday September 13, 2019 from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m.at DeKalb Funeral Chapel.  Following the visitation the family has honored Mrs. Riley’s request to be cremated.  In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations to be made to the American Cancer Society. Helen Sue Guy

September 10, 2019

76 year old Helen Sue Guy of Dowelltown passed away Monday at her residence. She was a homemaker. The funeral will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Young Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4-8 p.m., Wednesday from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m., and Thursday from 10 a.m. until the service at 1 p.m. Guy was preceded in death by her parents, Monroe and Edith Young; three children, Janice, Pam, and Bobby Houk and two sisters, Izena Griffin and Elizabeth Mahler. Survivors include her husband of 40 years, Sonny Guy of Dowelltown. A daughter, Rita Houk of Smithville. Two grandchildren, Nina Cantrell of Smithville and Scarlett Lawrence of McMinnville. Three great grandchildren, Keley Reeder of Smithville, Quinton Lawrence of Arkansas, and Ricky Earl Ponder of Smithville. A sister, Peggy and Gary Blankenship of Sparta. Two brothers, Thomas Young of Smithville and Grady Young of Texas, Special caretakers, Johnathan, Jessica, and Christie, and Debbie. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Jackie Sue Taylor

Jackie Sue Taylor age 65 of Lebanon, died Friday afternoon, Sept. 6, 2019 at her residence. Born Aug. 9, 1954, she was the daughter of Jackie L. Tyree and the late Ethylean Williamson Tyree of Statesville. Jackie Sue is survived by her husband, Robert L. Taylor; daughter, Dawn Taylor of Lebanon; sister, Dianne (Jimmie) Owen of Statesville; brothers, Azel (Doris) Tyree of Statesville and Josh Tyree of Liberty; nieces and nephews, Jim (Kim) Owen, Kim (Rhea) Paris, Daniel (Faye) Tyree, Amy (Ernie) Adsmond, Joshua (Mindy) Tyree, Kristina (D.J.) Haddock, Caitlin and Peyton Tyree; several great nieces and nephews. She and her husband were owners of Mid-Tenn Mark VII, Inc. car washes and was a realty broker. Jackie was a well known public speaker, storyteller and author. She was a member of Green Hill Church in Mt. Juliet and was a bible study leader for over 20 years with Precept Ministries. In 2019 she published her book, The Great Physician and Carrots. In 2014 Jackie was named Miss Senior Wilson County and placed fourth in the Miss Senior Tennessee Pageant. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 9, 2019 at the Watertown First Baptist Church with Dr. Daryl Crouch, Senior Pastor at Green Hill Church, officiating and longtime friend and classmate Mike Stroud assisting. Interment will follow at Hunter Memorial Park. Pallbearers, Troy Huddleston, Josiah Remboldt, Chad Craddock, Jon Hawker, Josh Storie, Dalton Pardue, Jesse Hardin, Rob Guffey. Visitation 2-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home and 10 a.m. till service time Monday at the church. Miss Darnell Fuson

September 5, 2019

Miss Darnell Fuson age 93 of McMinnville, TN, died Wednesday, September 04, 2019, at Raintree Manor Nursing Center. She was born April 02, 1926, in DeKalb County, TN, was a personal caretaker, and attended The Baptist Tabernacle and Cumberland Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. Miss Fuson was preceded in death by her parents Solon and Verda Midget Fuson and brothers Freddie Brown Fuson and Louis Fuson.

Survivors include her brother Charles Fuson, McMinnville, TN, sister-in-law Reba Fuson, Liberty, TN, nieces Carol Pelham and Wanda Cantrell both of McMinnville, TN, and Becky (James) Taylor, Liberty, TN, nephews Layne (Darlene) Fuson and Tracy (Stephanie) Fuson both of Liberty, TN, special great-nieces and great-nephews Lauran Cantrell, Kyle (Chelsea) Pelham and Kaleb Pelham (fiancé, Madison Bouldin), and special caregiver Lola Griffith. Other nieces, nephews, family members, and friends also survive.

Funeral service will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, September 7, 2019 in the McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. Gary McBride will officiate. Interment will follow at Whorton Springs Cemetery in Smithville, TN. The Fuson Family will receive friends from 3:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Friday and again from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service Saturday at the parlors of McMinnville Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made toward Gideon Bibles.

Barry Jackson Hayes

September 4, 2019

Barry Jackson Hayes age 74 of Lancaster passed away Wednesday morning, September 4, 2019 at St. Thomas DeKalb Hospital in Smithville.  He was born December 6, 1944 to his parents, the late Auval Jackson and Helen Rose Jennings Hayes, Jr.  He was a Shriner for 50 years, Master Mason of the Center Hill Lodge #77 and worked in construction.  Survivors include 2 sons, Ashley (Amy) Hayes of Smithville and Chad Hayes of Lebanon; Sister, Karen Hayes of Murfreesboro; Nieces, Brittany Hackney and Rose Reynolds; Great-niece, Avelynn Hackney.  A Masonic service will be held Saturday September 14, 2019 at 1:PM and a  memorial service will follow at  2:PM at DeKalb Funeral Chapel.  Visitation with the family will be 12:PM until time of service at 2:PM. The family has asked in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Cancer Society.  DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
