Jerry Jerome Pack

73-year-old Jerry Jerome Pack of Smithville passed away Saturday, July 20, 2019. Jerry was retired and a member of the Mt. Herman Baptist Church. Visitation with the Pack family will be on Sunday, July 21, 2019 from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Monday, July 22, 2019, from 10:00 a.m. until the service at 1:00 p.m. at the Love-Cantrell Chapel. Burial will be in Whorton Springs Cemetery.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Otis W. and Willia Bea Tramel Pack. Survivors include three sisters, Jannace Alton and Sharon Pack of Smithville, and Marcia and Lynn Peterson of Gallatin; one brother, Mark Pack of Smithville. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.




Gregory Gonzales

July 19, 2019

47 year old Gregory Gonzales of Alexandria died Wednesday at his residence. He was a factory worker. The funeral will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria. Russell Vickers will officiate. Visitation will be Friday from 5-8 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. until the service.  The family has chosen cremation. He was preceded in death by his father, Gene Gonzales. He is survived by his wife Kim Parker of Alexandria. Children, Caressa Parker and Caleb Parker of Alexandria. Granddaughter, Trinity Parker. Mother and step-father, Gloria and Phil Snyder of Las Vegas, Nevada. Brothers and sister, William and Lauren Darnell, Mark and Joella Lynn James, and Denise and Chuck Rigg all of Las Vegas, Nevada. Several nieces and nephews also survive. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Anderson Funeral Home to help with funeral expenses. Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria is in charge of the arrangements.




Joseph Wesley Agnew

July 19, 2019

Mr. Joseph Wesley Agnew, age 65, of Alexandria, TN, passed away Thursday July 18, 2019 at Alive Hospice in Murfreesboro, TN.

Funeral services for Mr. Agnew will be conducted on Saturday July 20, 2019 from the Alexandria United Methodist Church with Rev Denman Frazier and Rev Gary Mraz officiating.  Interment will be in the Brush Creek Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Agnew’s family will receive friends on Saturday July 20, 2019 at the Alexandria United Methodist Church from 12:30PM until service time at 2PM.

Wesley was born on October 1, 1953 in Alexandria, TN to the late Joseph Marion and Mattie Louise Allen Agnew.  He graduated from the DeKalb County High School in Smithville, TN.  He was a graduate of the George Peabody College at Vanderbilt in Nashville, TN and received his Masters degree from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. He worked for the State of Tennessee as a computer analysts.  He was a faithful lifelong member of the Alexandria United Methodist Church where he served as the organist until shortly before his death.

Survivors of Mr. Agnew include a sister Jean (Joe) Malone of Murfreesboro, TN and a brother Wendell (Dinah) Agnew of Shelbyville, TN.

Joyce Patrick

July 19, 2019

Joyce Patrick, age 81, a Warren County, TN resident and native was born July 28, 1937 and passed away July 18, 2019 at her residence following an extended illness.

She was a homemaker, member of Temple Baptist Church and daughter of the late Walter and Ocie Mae Rhea. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Leon Patrick; brother, Juell Rhea; and sister, Emma Gladys Smith.

Mrs. Patrick is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Rickey and Brenda Patrick of McMinnville and Jimmy and Anita Patrick of Smithville; grandson, Jason Leon Patrick; two great-grandsons, Logan and Tyler Patrick; two brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Betty Rhea and Suell and Joan Rhea all of McMinnville; and sister and brother-in-law, Mae and Elbert Lee Grissom of McMinnville.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 20, 2019 in High’s Chapel with Jim Tollison to officiate. Interment will follow in Mt. View Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Friday and 8:00 a.m. Saturday until the time of service at High’s.

Anita Bogle Thornton

Anita Bogle Thornton, age 60, of Smyrna, TN passed away on Wednesday, July 17 at Vanderbilt Medical Center. She was a Baptist and a factory worker. The funeral will be on Saturday, July 20 at 1 p.m.  at the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home with interment to follow in Salem Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be on Friday from 3pm-8pm and on Saturday from 9am until the time of service at 1pm. Ms. Thornton was preceded in death by her parents, Lemuel Thomas and Betty Mai Nokes Bogle; 1 brother, Daniel Bogle; and 1 sister, Wanda Harrison. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Bethany and Keith Saddler of Statesville; 3 grandchildren, Hayley Saddler, Shane Saddler, and Hannah Saddler all of Statesville; 1 great-grandchild, Sydney Rae Saddler; 1 brother, Thomas Bogle of Liberty; 4 sisters, Brenda and Thurman Bennett of Lebanon, Marie and Kenneth Derting of Liberty, Elsie and Ray Fish of Statesville, and Lisa and Dewayne Bowen of Liberty; Several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive. Sterling A. Harrell

July 17, 2019

Sterling A. Harrell, 82, of Murfreesboro passed away Monday, July 15, 2019 at St. Thomas West hospital.  He was a native of Cannon Co.

He is survived by his wife, Wilma Ball Harrell of Woodbury; children, Brenda McKenzie, Beverly Wallace and Brian Harrell and his wife, Monica all of Murfreesboro; grandchildren, Jessica Wallace, Julie Wallace Walker and her husband Brian all of Nashville and Cassy McKenzie of Murfreesboro; stepchildren, Jackie Elliott and her husband, Larry of McMinnville and Ricky Ball of Woodbury; brothers, William Howard Harrell and his wife, Mildred of Murfreesboro and Russell Harrell and his wife, Jo of Lawrenceville, GA. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Mr. Harrell was preceded in death by his parents, Nollie and Hettie Campbell Harrell; his first wife, Geneva Blanks Harrell and his siblings, Glen Harrell, Sepal Boren and Pauline Jones.

Sterling was a member of the Kingwood Church of Christ and was retired from Colonial Corp. as the plant manager.  He also managed other privately-owned plants throughout TN.  Mr. Harrell loved his employees and was very passionate about his job as he was a cornerstone of his community and in the garment industry.  He would spend most of his mornings drinking coffee with his friends at Hardee’s “liars table”.  Sterling enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening and yard work but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.

Funeral services will be 11 am Friday, July 19, 2019 in the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home with Bro. Herb Alsup and Bro. Doug Hutchins officiating.  Interment will follow in the  Riverside Gardens cemetery.  Visitation with his family will be from 4 pm until 8 pm, Thursday, July 18, 2019 and Friday from 10 am until time of his service.  Pallbearers include, Eric Parker, Ricky Ball, Bobby Francis, Brian Walker, David Godwin and Manny Camara.  Larry Elliott and Martin Harrell will serve as honorary pallbearers.
