Jeanine Cook Caldwell

80 year old Jeanine Cook Caldwell of Smithville passed away Thursday at NHC of Smithville. She was retired from Smithville First Baptist Church where she was the former Church Secretary and a member. The funeral will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Chad Ramsey, Beth Duke, and Mark Thomas will officiate and burial will be in Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. until the service at 2 p.m. She was preceded in death by husbands, Shirley Cook and Hoyte Caldwell; parents, Edward David and Pauline Hudson Nixon; and sister, Paulette Nixon Hernandez. Survivors include two daughters, Joy and Charlie Parker of Smithville and Jill and Mark McSparren of Austin, Texas. Four grandchildren, Claire Garrett and Katie Parker of Smithville, Annie and Josh Perkins of Sunset, Texas, and Quenton McSparren of Nashville. Four great grandchildren, Summer Garrett, Marley Anderson, and Ryland and Nolan Perkins.  Three sisters, Annette Leivestad and Annessa Nixon of Clarksville, and Anona Williamson of Knoxville. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive. In addition to flowers, donations in memory of Jeanine may be made to the Smithville First Baptist Church. Patricia Dale Collier

March 14, 2019

Patricia Dale Collier age 59 of Texas, passed away Saturday March 2, 2019 at her home. She was preceded in death by a brother, Scott Dale. She is survived by her husband, Martin Collier of Texas; father, Bobby (Deloris) Dale of Knoxville; mother, Mary Ellen Dale of Smithville; 3 brothers, Jamie Dale, David Dale and Josh Dale; aunt, Nell Beshearse of Smithville; nephews, Lucas Dale and Jonnah Dale; cousin, Jim and Marla Beshearse of Smithville.  The family has honored Patricia’s request to be cremated and services are to be announced later.  This information provided as a courtesy of DeKalb Funeral Chapel.




Abraham Nathaniel Pettit

March 12, 2019

Abraham Nathaniel Pettit was still born on Monday night, March 11, 2019 at Cookeville Regional Hospital.  He is survived by his parents, Nathan and Ashley Pettit of Smithville; siblings, Kaitlyn Walls, Walter and Wesley Bryant, Emma and Nadia Pettit; grandparents, William and Patricia Russell of Smithville, Crystal and Charlotte Malone of Smithville, James and Tori Pettit of Lebanon; great-grandparents, Era and Harold Billings of Sparta, A.J. and Fran England of Sparta, Debra and Mike Prater of Jefferson City, TN; several aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.  Funeral services will be conducted 12 Noon Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Donald Haggard officiating and burial will follow in Peeled Chestnut Cemetery.  Visitation with the family will be on Wednesday 10:AM until the time of the service at 12 Noon.  DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.




Edward Thomas “Tommy” Hensley

March 12, 2019

Mr. Edward Thomas “Tommy” Hensley, age 74 of Sparta, passed away Monday morning March 11, 2019 at his residence.

Tommy was born January 31, 1945 in White County to the late Zollie Ray Hensley and Jewel Terry Hensley.  He retired from Federal Mogul in Smithville after 32 years of service.  Tommy was well known statewide for pitching horseshoes, he was a longtime member of the Tennessee Horseshoe Pitching Association and accumulated several state championships. Tommy served his country in the United States Navy. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by grandsons Keilin Thomas Hensley and Carson Neil Hensley; siblings Charles Hensley, Johnny Hensley, Henry Hensley, Cap Hensley, Zollie Ray Hensley, Jr., Lizzie Hensley Martin and Barbara Ruth Hensley Griffin.

Survivors include is wife of 51 years Peggy Bain Hensley of Sparta

Sons: Marty (Tamara) Hensley of Rock Island, Edward (Farrah) Hensley of Sparta

Special son: Anthony (T.O.) Officer of Sparta

Grandchildren: Johnna (Bobby) Hensley, Jenna (David) Hindenberger, CJ Hensley all of Sparta, Peyton Hensley of Rock Island, Haley (Shawn) Hensley of Lebanon, Elijah Hensley of Rock Island, Rami Hensley and Charlie Hensley both of Sparta

Three great-grandchildren

Siblings: Carolyn Young of Cookeville, Gaines (Vicki) Hensley of Florida, David (Donna) Hensley of Crossville, Jerry (Roxanne) Hensley of Sparta, Danny Hensley of Smithville

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00pm Thursday, March 14, 2019 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home. Burial with military honors presented by the Veterans’ Honor Guard will follow in Highland Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5-8:00pm at Hunter Funeral Home. Marty Hensley will officiate.

CJ Hensley, Elijah Hensley, Richard Taylor, Kenneth Young, Randy Jones and Stacy Hensley will serve as pallbearers.

Jackie Dianne Bain Roberts

March 11, 2019

Jackie Dianne Bain Roberts age 60 of McMinnville, passed away Monday morning, March 11, 2019 at NHC HealthCare Center in McMinnville.  She was born July 21, 1958 to her parents, the late Jack and Irene Self Bain.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 1 son, Jacob King and 1 brother, Charles Bain.  Dianne attended Living Waters, formerly worked at Wal-Mart and was a homemaker.  She is survived by 1 son, Chase Roberts of McMinnville; 3 brothers, Joe (Tonya) Bain of Smyrna, Marlon (Gail) Bain of McMinnville and David (Linda) Bain of McMinnville; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.  Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Rabbi Bill Coldwell and Bro. Larry Self officiating and burial will follow in Tittsworth Cemetery.  Visitation with the family will be on Wednesday 10 AM until the time of the service at 3 p.m.  DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.



Nira Snyder

March 11, 2019

77 year old Nira Snyder of McMinnville passed away Sunday at NHC of McMinnville. She was retired from Caney Fork Electric Cooperative and a member of the Bratcher Cross Road Methodist Church. The funeral will be Tuesday at 3 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Bobby Wheeler will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the service at 3 p.m. She was preceded in death by her husband, Taft Snyder; parents, Elmer and Beulah Hendrixson; sister, Judy Martin; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Will and Vinnie Snyder; and special friend Charlie Hillis. Survivors include two sons, Chris and Kelley Snyder of Rock Island and Shannon and Jennifer Snyder of McMinnville. Seven grandchildren, Bethany and Johnny Mack of Cookeville, Brettley and Jessie Miller of McMinnville, Olivia Snyder of Rock Island, Zackary Snyder of Smithville, Noah Snyder of McMinnville, Alexandria Reed of McMinnville, and Andrea Reed of McMinnville. Nine great grandchildren. A sister, Lori and Wes Rogers of Smithville. A brother and sister-in-law, Dean and Nell Snyder of Alabama. Brother-in-law, Royce Martin of Liberty.
