Michael Lee Young

 Michael Lee Young, age 64 of Smithville, passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital. He was a financial advisor and a member of the First Baptist Church in Smithville.

Mr. Young was born on March 20, 1959 in Sparta, Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his parents, Barnett & Nora Lee Pirtle Young, maternal grandparents, Shelie & Sudie Pirtle, paternal grandparents, O.W. & Mae Young.

The family has honored Mr. Young’s wishes to be cremated. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, February 18, 2024 at 4:00 pm at Smithville First Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 3:00 until service at 4:00

Survivors include 1 brother, D.Y. (Deb) Young of Smithville, 2 nephews, Wesley (Melissa) Young of Baxter, Hunter (Sarah) Collins of Lebanon, 2 nieces, Tia (Brandon) Puckett and Sommer (Tony) Luna all of Smithville. Several Aunts, cousins and friends also survive.

Eugene Sanders Webb

Mr. Eugene Sanders Webb, age 88, of Smithville, TN, (Keltonburg Community) passed away Sunday, February 04, 2024 at N.H.C. Health Care in Smithville, TN. He was born August 14, 1935, in Smithville, TN, was a retired Civil Engineer and State Inspector for the state of Tennessee. Sanders was a member of the Church of Christ and a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason.

He was preceded in death by his parents Oscar and Viola Sanders Webb and his wife Dorothy Jean Redmon Webb. Survivors include his good friend Jack Green and many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Funeral service will be at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, February 08, 2024 in the McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. Elder Ricky Arnold and Bro. Wayne Cantrell will officiate. Interment will follow at Keltonburg Cemetery. Visitation for Mr. Webb will be held on Wednesday from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and again on Thursday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at 1:00 P.M. A Masonic service held on Wednesday evening at 7:00 P.M. overseen by Masonic Lodge #77.

Zelda Renee Avent

February 6, 2024

Smithville, TN resident and Dekalb County, TN native Zelda Renee Avent, age 50, was born March 27, 1973 and died suddenly February 3, 2024 at her residence.

An employee of Federal Mogul, she was the daughter of Jeff Barnes of Manchester, TN and the late Sheron Ann Whitworth.

She was married to Chad Miles Avent of Smithville, TN on October 26, 2012. In addition to her father and husband, she is survived by children, Ashly (Craig) Jones of Murfreesboro, TN and Anthony (Shelby) Caldwell of Smithville, TN; grandchildren, Roman, Destiny, Katelynn, Aroura, Anastasia and Orion Jones and Jaxon, Harper and Kimber Caldwell and brother, Donnie Barnes of Manchester, TN.

Funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, February 10, 2024 in High’s Chapel with Charles Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Crain Hill Cemetery in Van Buren County, TN. Visitation will be Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at High Funeral Home.

Miranda McGinnis Harvey

February 5, 2024

Miranda McGinnis Harvey age 68 of Alexandira, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday morning, February 4, 2024 at her residence. Miranda was born January 29, 1956 in Nashville and adopted at birth by the late Elder Grady and Athlene McGinnis. Her birth mother’s only request was that she go to a good Christian home. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Harvey and grandson, Gradyn Elijah Harvey. Miranda was a realtor with Crye-Leike Realty in Lebanon, she was a member of the M.T.A.R. and was a faithful member of Helton Creek The Baptist Church. She leaves to cherish her memory, 3 sons, Randal (Tara) Harvey of Mt. Juliet, Kevin (Angelia) Harvey of Alexandria and Chad (Kayla) Harvey of Alexandria; 5 grandchildren, Kailey, Wyatt, Jack, Haddeigh Grace and Parker Kayte Harvey. Funeral services will be 2 PM Thursday, February 8, 2024 at Helton Creek The Baptist Church with Bros. Frank Randolph and Gary Glover officiating and burial will follow in Hillview Cemetery with Bro. Eric Wood officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday 1 PM until 8 PM at the Church and Thursday 10:AM until the time of the service at 2 PM at the Church. In addition to flowers, donations can be made to an education fund for her 5 grandchildren. All Visitation and Services will be held at the Helton Creek The Baptist Church, 4152 Lower Helton Road, Alexandria, TN 37012. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is honored to care for the Harvey family.




Zada Nell Redmon Pinegar

Zada Nell Redmon Pinegar

She went into eternity with her Lord and Savior.

A Christian and Baptist, she is a member of Indian Creek Missionary Baptist Church.

She worked in the local shirt factory prior to obtaining certifications in practical nursing, lab and x-ray technology. Zada worked for Dr. WW Knowles until he retired, and some local MDs bought the facility. She worked for the local hospital under many different organizations & names in the radiology department. After leaving the hospital she worked in the office of Dr. Jerry Puckett until she retired from the healthcare profession. She didn’t quit working, she was a dealer for Avon, Watkins and Stanley and worked 5 booths at the Parkland Flea market for many years. She loved being outside in her flowers and working in the garden.

Zada has lived at the Webb House retirement center since the death of her childhood friend and loving spouse—Charles Edward Pinegar. She was also preceded in death by her parents—Robert Lee & Ova Douglas Redmon. Siblings that preceded: Anna Musice-Hughes, Jessie Redmon, Reba Hayes, Nettie Redmon, Myrtle Foster-Wheelock-Leonard, and Nelson Redmon.

Surviving to cherish her memories:

Children-Charles Michael (Gloria) Pinegar and Teresa Ann (Terry) Maxwell.

Grandchildren-Heather (Chris) Young, Amanda Maxwell and Robert Maxwell.

Great grandchildren-Trinity and Denton Young, Gavin and Braxton Bain, and Brooklynn Maxwell.

Siblings- Leslie Redmon (Charleston, SC) and Marie Redmon-Mehringer (Jasper, IN).

Many loving and sweet nieces, nephews and extended family.

In lieu of flowers, one may make donations to Lighthouse Boys’ & Girls’ Ranch, Gideon’s or a charity of your choice in Zada’s name. May God bless your life journey!

Funeral services will be conducted 2 PM Sunday, February 4, 2024 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bros. Jason Lohorn and Bill Robertson officiating and burial will follow in Whorton Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday 4 PM until 8 PM and Sunday 12 Noon until the time of the service at 2 PM. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is honored to care for the Pinegar family.




Judy Kay Fish

Mrs. Judy Kay Fish, age 70 of Dowelltown, passed away at her residence on Wednesday, January 31, 2024. She was a retired factory worker from S&W Factory where she worked for 22 years.

Mrs. Fish was born on September 5, 1953 in Detroit, Michigan. Her parents were James Todd and Dorothy Lawson Davis who preceded in her death. She is also preceded in death by 2 husbands, Clayton Pack and Jerry Fish .

The family has chosen direct cremation and there will be no visitation at the funeral home.

Survivors of Mrs. Fish include one daughter, Denise (Freddy) Blair of Dowelltown, 3 grandchildren, Stephanie (Hunter) Angel of Newbern, Heather (Josh) Rhoton of Smithville and Steven (Rebecca) Page of Sparta, 6 great-grandchildren, Addison and Kallen Curtis, Ada Page, Bowen Rhoton, Gunner & Maelynn Angel, 1 brother, Rickey Todd of Manchester and one special friend, Lisa Dulley of Smithville.
