Michael Eugene Evans age 44 of Smithville passed away Saturday afternoon, September 22, 2018 at St. Thomas DeKalb Hospital ER.  He was born May 27, 1974 to his parents, Randall Carl Evans and Dian Anderson Short.  Mike worked as an Automotive Technician with Nissan and was disabled.  He is survived by his wife, Kayla Evans of Smithville; 6 children, Krestin Evans of Smithville, Trenton Evans and Allie Evans both of Murfreesboro, Brooklyn Barnes of Smithville, Stormy Evans of Carthage and James Lane of Smithville; mother, Dian Short of Murfreesboro; father, Randy Evans of Rock Island; grandmother, Joyce Bugg of Murfreesboro; grandfather, James Burton of Lancaster; 2 sisters, Jamie Lyn Holt of Murfreesboro and Jessica Stanford of Lebanon; brother, Chris Evans of Smithville.  The family has honored Mike’s request to be cremated and no services are planned.  DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

Ms. Oleta Hale age 86 of Smithville passed away Monday afternoon September 24, 2018 at her daughter’s residence.  She was born to her parents, the late Houston Gray and Ella Mae Ashford Hobbs.  She was a member of the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, worked in a bakery, shirt factory and was a homemaker.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Bud Hale; Brothers: Arnold Hobbs, Harrison Hobbs, Bill Hobbs, Sammy Hobbs; Sister: Juanita Ferrell; Son-in-law: Larry “Horse” Ferrell.  Funeral Service will be held 11:AM Thursday September 27, 2018 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bros. Leonard Herman and Michael Hale officiating and burial to follow in DeKalb Cemetery.  Visitation with the family will be Wednesday 12 noon until 8 p.m. and Thursday 9:AM until the time of service at 11:AM.  Survivors include Daughter: Starr Ferrell (the late Larry “Horse” Ferrell) of Smithville; Grandchildren: Jarrod Dodd of Liberty, Sherranna (Bobby) Walker of Winchester; Great-Grandchildren: Hunter, Ava & Sophia Walker; Nieces: Brenda Gregory, Frances (John) Clark, Debbie (Jack) Tauber, Anita Ferrell, Robin Ferrell, Judy Pack, Sandra (Mike) Tisdale, Murriana Herman; Nephews: Doyle Hobbs, Wilburn (Janice) Hobbs, Steven Hobbs; Brother: John Hobbs of Liberty.  DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

Funeral services for William Lloyd Billings, age 80 of Baxter, Tennessee, will be held on Thursday, September 27, 2018 at 2:00PM from the Chapel of Whitson Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 from 5:00-9:00PM and Thursday, September 27^th from 8:00AM until time of service at 2:00PM.

Mr. Billings passed away on Monday, September 24, 2018 at the Signature Healthcare in Putnam County.

William Lloyd Billings was born on September 5, 1938 in DeKalb County, TN to the late William Richard Clyde and Ora Mae (Mahan) Billings. He was of the Christian faith. Lloyd is former owner and operator of Billings Crane Service.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Clara (Dunn) Billings; Mother-In-Law & Father-In-Law: Jessie and Sam Dunn; Beloved Sister-In-Law: Margie Hickey; Beloved Sons: David Eugene and Daniel Lloyd Billings; Grandson: Anthony Billings; 2 Brothers: John Anson and Joel David Billings.

His Survivors Include:

70 year old Linda Gail Kilgore Armour of Smithville passed away Friday at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital. She was a member of the New Home Missionary Baptist Church and a retired owner and operator of Kilgore’s Restaurant. The funeral will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Jason Lohorn and Bobby Hale will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Sunday from 1-8 p.m., Monday from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m., and Tuesday from 11 a.m. until the service at 1 p.m.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Winnie Summers Taylor; first husband and father of her children, Edsel Kilgore; two sisters and brother-in-law, Christine and Melvin Reeder and Faye and Donnie Lohorn, a brother, James A. Buddy Taylor, and a brother-in-law, Jack Ludy. Survivors include her husband, Alvin Armour; daughter, Brenda and Wayne Adcock; two sons, David and Terri Kilgore and John and Ginda Kilgore all of Smithville. Step daughter, Peggy and Mike Redmon of Smithville. Five brothers, Ricky and Diane Taylor of Smyrna, Ronnie Taylor of Smithville, Jerry Taylor of Smithville, Jimmy and Rita Taylor of Smithville, and Tony and Vickie Taylor of Murfreesboro. Five sisters, Mary Ludy of Smyrna, Peggy and Ralph Tramel, Judy and Ronnie Redmon, Darlene Jones, and Sandra and Cameron Dunn all of Smithville. Sister-in-law, Brenda Taylor of Smithville. Eight grandchildren, Byron and Paige Adcock, Lauren Adcock, Colby and Taylor Kilgore, Clay and Mariah Kilgore, Colby Barnes, Kolter Kilgore, Kora Kilgore, and Conner Hullet all of Smithville. Four great grandchildren, Stella Adcock, Lakelynn Adcock, Titus Stone, Briar Rose Kilgore, and Baby Kilgore of parents Colby and Taylor Kilgore expected in February. Glen Dale Stoner age 71 of McMinnville passed away Thursday evening September 13, 2018 at the VA Medical Center in Nashville.  He was born May 13, 1947 to his parents, the late Grover Cleveland and Dorothy Stovall Stoner.  He was Marine veteran, nursery worker and a member of Smithville Church of Christ.  In addition to his parents, Glen was also preceded in death by a grandson Carter Stoner.  Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday September 16, 2018 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Dan Gulley officiating and burial to follow in DeKalb Memorial Gardens.  Visitation will be Sunday from noon until the time of the funeral at 2 p.m.  Survivors include his wife of 49 years Jeanette Sparkman Stoner of McMinnville; 3 Children: Steve (Christina) Stoner of Dallas, TX, Allen (Hailey) Stoner of Atlanta, GA., Chris Stoner of McMinnville; Grandchildren: Alex Stoner, Clara Stoner, Ava Stoner, Parker Stoner, Matthew Stoner; 8 Siblings; Several nieces and nephews also survive.  In addition to flowers, donations can be made to the charity of your choice, in memory of Mr. Glen.  DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

60 year old Jamye Sue Maples Atnip of Smithville passed away Thursday at her residence. She was a retired factory worker and a Baptist. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home with burial in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Jordan Atnip and Donald Owens will officiate. Visitation with the family will be Friday from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the service at 2 p.m. Ms. Atnip was preceded in death by her parents, James and Peggy Young Maples and one sister, Mary Wilson. Survivors include her son, Eric and Beth Atnip of Smithville; grandchildren, Wyatt and Elias Atnip of Smithville; sister, LouAnn and Jimmy Midgett of Dowelltown; brother, Joey Maples of Smithville; special friend and father of her son, Dennis Atnip. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
