Mary Jane Lindner

Mary Jane Lindner, 94, departed this life on January 22, 2018 while living at the Webb House Retirement Center in McMinnville TN. She was born to Sylvanus and Marie White on March 29, 1923 in Butte Montana. Growing up in Montana she learned what it was like to grow up during the later frontier days. Her parents taught her the values of travel and education. She received a B.S. degree in Nursing from Montana State University where she met and married the love of her life, Gordon M. Lindner, on May 2, 1944 in a simple ceremony in Great Falls MT. Spring of 2017, they celebrated 73 years of marriage before his death in late May.At Montana State Mary Jane was a member of the Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority and was a member of the Nurses Cadet Corps. Before graduating, with the help of the Red Cross, she established a center for children of war veterans.
During World War 2 she moved to Oak Ridge TN with her husband Gordon who was with the Special Engineering Division, where she continued her nursing career at the Methodist Medical Center. While raising her children, she used her nursing skills assisting the area doctors for vaccinations in schools.
Mary Jane and Gordon moved to the new town of Norris TN in 1949 where she was active in the Norris Religious Fellowship and various activities in the community. A Girl Scout since the age of 7, she was a leader for both Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, camp director, delegate to the Highland Rim Council and the Tanasi Council. In 2006, she received her 75 year tenure pin from the Tanasi council. She was involved with the Norris Little Theater in costume and set design, worked with Gordon in the Lions Club, and a charter member of the Good Neighbors.
They moved back to Oak Ridge in 1980. There Mary Jane was active in the Chapel on The Hill Church, the Oak Ridge Community Band, The Museum of Atomic Energy, the Holiday Bureau, and volunteered at Methodist Medical Center, the MADD organization, reading at schools, and hospice. Her hobbies included: reading, traveling, sewing, crocheting, and playing Bridge. In 2009, Mary Jane was nationally recognized by the Nature Conservancy for her donation of the family homestead to the organization. In 2010, she received the Church Women United Humanitarian Award.
She is survived by her three children, Gary and wife Martha of Duncan, SC, Rosemary and her husband Raymond of Bainbridge Island ,Washington, and Natalie and her husband Larry Green of Smithville, TN. Six grandchildren survive: Amy Faulkner and husband Todd of Duncan,SC, Wesley Lindner and his wife Jennifer of Jacksonville FL, RaeAnne Nye of Denver CO, Leland Nye and his wife Aleena of Honolulu,Hawaii, Elizabeth Young and her husband Barry of Smithville TN and Tony Green of Orlando FL; and 11 great grandchildren. She is also survived the Lindsay Hunt family of Australia. Lindsay was a foreign exchange student with the Lindners and has remained a part of the family.
There will be a celebration of Mary Jane’s life on April 7th at the Chapel on The Hill Church in Oak Ridge TN. Rev. Randy Hammer will officiate.

85 year old Roy Moss, Sr. of Mount Juliet passed away Friday at Tri Star Summit in Nashville. He was a member of the Church of Christ and a retired Electrician for Aladdin Industries. A graveside service will be Monday at 11 a.m. at the Mt. Holly Cemetery. Dan Gulley will officiate. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Lennox and Dora Moss and a grandson, Dustin Lee Moss. Survivors include a son, Roy Moss, Jr. and wife Debbie Moss; granddaughter, Theresa Moss, and four great grandchildren, Corey and William Moss all of Hermitage, Caylee Hirsbrunner of Mount Juliet and McKenzie Mobley of Elizabethtown. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

62 year old Mark Eugene West of Alexandria died Tuesday at St. Thomas DeKalb Hospital. He was a carpenter, Baptist, and a U.S. Army veteran. A memorial service will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria. Visitation will be Saturday from noon until the service at 2 p.m. He was preceded in death by his father, Elzie West; maternal grandparents, Harry and Mary Bankston; his paternal grandparents, Bryan and Lillie West. Survivors include his mother, Jeanette West of Alexandria. Sons, Jared West and Jason Melton. Brothers, Lyle Matthew and Jan West of South Bend, Indiana and Brian and Julie West of Bell Buckle. Aunt, Carlis Brooks. Uncles, Gary Bankston, Spurge Bankston, Darryl Bankston, and Wayne Bankston. Special cousin, Melody and Glynn Pedigo of Smithville and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Anderson Funeral Home to help with funeral expenses

Shirley Ann (Magness) Pack age 75 of Smithville was born August 10, 1942 to her parents, the late Austin and Christine Webb Magness, and went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday evening, February 7, 2018 at St. Thomas Midtown Hospital in Nashville. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Ray Pack. Ann was a member of the Webb’s Chapel United Methodist Church and a homemaker. She leaves to cherish her memories, daughter, Trena Donnette Pack and special friend Ronnie Mac Davis of Smithville; several nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends. Funeral services celebrating Ann’s life will be held on 2 PM Saturday, February 10, 2018 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bros. Bernard Houk, Doyle Slager and Michael Hale officiating and entombment will be at DeKalb Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Visitation with the family will be on Friday 3 PM until 8 PM and Saturday 10 AM until the time of the service at 2 PM. In addition to flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice. 94 year old Marty Schuster of Gainesboro passed away Tuesday at his residence. He was a Navy Veteran of World War II, an avid gardener, hunter and fishermen who loved learning new things. He was also a retired maintenance employee with Alkali Chemical. A memorial graveside service will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Whorton Springs Cemetery. Ricky Arnold will officiate. He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Katarina Schuster and wife Ruby Schuster. Survivors include three step-sons, Charles and Janet Young of Riddleton, Larry Young of Murfreesboro and Paul Young of Morrison. Sister, Marie Rusnak of Ohio and several nieces and nephews and special caregivers, Ken and Mary Denson. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

David Ervin Graham age 70 of Alexandria, died Sunday morning, Feb. 4, 2018 at his residence. David was born March 9, 1947 in Big Sandy, WV, he was the son of the late Waldo and Goldie Harshine Graham. David was a mechanical engineer for 42 years and attended The Bridge Fellowship. He is survived by his wife, Denise Graham of Alexandria; children, Jenness (Alex) Schuhmann of Nashville, Stacey (Jason Wilson) Graham of Murfreesboro, Erik Kaseta of Savannah, GA; granddaughter, Autumn Irene Wilson; brothers, Waldo (Diane) Graham, Jr. of Ridge Creek WV and Thomas (Brenda) Graham of Boomer, WV. A celebration of David’s life will held at Noon Sunday, Feb. 11, 2018 at The Watertown Bridge Fellowship, 515 West Main St. at Watertown Middle School with T.J. Hewitt officiating. The family requests that flowers not be sent to the school, but memorials in David’s name may be given to the charity of your choice.
